Anyone Need a Date? Visit metaMatch

Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Lionheart%20Pumbaa/128/128/15

metaMatch   "Real friendhips Real romance"
metaMatch Matchmaking and Dating Service

"Whether looking for friends, romance, a casual date, or true love, metaMatch is the premier matchmaking and dating service for your Second Life."

My friend Will Burns introduced me to metaMatch and it's brainchild, owner and builder/scripter, MikeD Panache.  Will gets around SL and has plenty of friends, but he sounded excited about this new social group and invited me over.  He seems to really be on top of all the new cool stuff in SL.  Soon I understood his excitement.  Mike built and scripted the place and together with Molly Elisabeth, events coordinator, and MISTY DeMure, hostess,  they have grown to 120 members in just 4 short weeks since opening.  Mike continues to work on things to enhance metaMatch.  He humbly attributed it's success to all the support of Molly, MISTY and others already involved.

I think this place is unlike anything I've seen in SL before.  While it IS a dating agency, it's also so much more, even for those who are not in the dating market.  MikeD told me it's for everyone, but especially "the brokenhearted, the being with RL issues that need someone.. thats who we want.  We want to help those people.  To be here, to join the community, use the facility.. hang out.. its free.  I don't want your money I want you to be part of regrowing what we've lost in SL" Mike only charges 25L a week in order to use the date/information exchange boards.  This will help with just a fraction of the cost of sim space and business expenses I'm sure.  The build not only has dating boards, that I will get to shortly, but the social aspect is even greater.  He said, "We host events every week, social mixers, themed parties, and we hope to grow attendance.  Events are free to the public.  People are welcome here, members or not, as long as they adhere to respectable standards."

I sat and chatted with a small group of people who were hanging out there and had Mike in IM asking him a few things about the place for my blog.  He said, "The target goal is to have 400-500 panels up in this location.  The real push is to build a community larger than that of mature SL members who want to meet real people, share real experiences and real bonds.  This isn't the place to find poseball companions or the like."   "One of the things that differentiates metaMatch from the typical dating agencies in SL is this is wrapped around a community, not a bunch of nameless faces on boards.  People come here to sit, meet, make friends."  The hangout area provides a social hour every Wednesday and Friday at both 12pm SLT and 4PM SLT where people can meet other members and make new friends, enjoy games and music, have a drink and hang out and chat.  There is beer pong, bowling, a hearts game table, and business room besides the bar and various seating areas.   They also offer a gift card option in order to utilize the dating/information exchange boards.

(below is a pic I snapped of Mike)

Mike is a scripter and has really managed this system well.  The information exchange boards are completed through easy-use kiosks.  I decided to try this out, as not only do they have male seeking female and female seeking male company boards, they also offer male/male, female/female, and female/friends and male /friends. So interestingly enough you can just go to actually meet friends with like interests or unlike interests if you want :  ) who are also interested in making more friends.

Ok, so yup, I approached one of the kiosks, and being a very techy-impaired type person I have to admit I was a little worried it would be intimidating to complete the process, but the beauty of this system is the ease of use.  Mike has scripted the kiosks so well.  It asks a series of questions and you can skip whatever you don't want to answer, it asks if it can use your profile pic or if you'd like to supply your own photo to drop in for your board photo, and it allows you to also drop in an additional notecard with more detailed information if you'd like.  I just agreed to it having my profile pic and it automatically used that with no effort on my part.  I also completed the basic questions and the extra notecard so if you want to know more about me feel free to go over and have a look.  Go check it out some time and see what's happening that is new in SL while meeting new friends, companions, or more.

I popped back over tonight just after finishing this blog post and found Mike is running a promo for new members, through Sunday, check this great deal out!

Creepy Kawaii Fair 2015 and Tiny Giraffes

Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/ZI%20Chantilly%20Dreams/128/128/24

I visited the Creepy Kawaii Fair 2015.  My friend Will Burns told me about it and a cute giraffe he got there.  I went over to check it out and sure enough there was a large crowd around the Half Deer vendor that has these little giraffes in their gachas.  They come in many styles and they move with you and kind of fidget on their own giving them a realistic cute look.  They are also resizable.  Needless to say I got several and gave a few out to special friends.   Too Kawaii.  I had to blog.... : )

The Night Theater in Second Life, My Heart Goes Boom

Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/ExtravaDanza/128/128/26

Today I was able to visit The Night Theater's "My Heart Goes Boom" show, one of their 3 special shows for Valentine's.  The next and last of this production will be shown 2-21-15 at noon and midnight.  Costumes, sets, concepts, and dances are produced by Aelva, Martty Gehter, Jaicya, and JenzZa Misfit.   I thoroughly enjoyed it all and especially love how props and particles and things engage the audience and are not restrained just to the stage.  My videos have been very pixilated lately and figured this might be a good chance to see how its working with dance, but not a lot of fast other movement and it seems it turned out ok.  I only have bits of 4 routines so missed some really good parts, but go visit their last two shows for some fun and the rest of it up close and personal.

LEA6 "Speculum' by Giovanna Cerise Opening today 2-18-15 at 1pm SLT

Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/LEA6/128/128/15

The new LEA6 art installation "Speculum" by Giovanna Cerise is opening today Wednesday, February 18 th, 2015 01:00 pm SL .

The press release states:

"For  LEA FULL SIM ART Series.
Giovanna Cerise present “ Speculum”
The mirror, as multiplicity and continuous playback.
The mirror, where the invisible overlaps the original and the hidden appears suddenly.
The mirror, as an illusion of which you can not do without.
The mirror as a projection in an unreal dimension.
The mirror that opens the door to ....
The visitor can interact with the environment simply going through it, resulting in different visual impressions.
The recommended setting is Sunset or Verdigris, to appreciate the nuances of the installation.
Opening  Wednesday, February 18 th, 2015 01:00 pm SL TIME"

I'm home from work today with a sore throat and fever, so I snuck in early for a few pics for this blog and went with a friend.  At the landing you sit on the coglike mirror to tp into the tunnel.  My friend was saying the changes in the tunnel were a little disorienting to her. You travel through a sort of greyish tunnel nestled in what seems almost like the base of a old wood ship or maybe a nest of wooden planks.  The atmosphere sort of moves and flickers as you travel though the tunnel going from what is reality to a sort of silhouette in grey. On the exterior are similar wooden structures.  It felt a tad steampunky especially if using the Verdigris windlight suggested and with some coglike structures.  I'm not an artist, so not sure I fully grasped the meaning of it all but I could certainly appreciate the uniqueness of the build and liked the way the atmosphere in the "tunnel" was sort of shaded out and with the discs that also gave alternating visual effects.   I have to say I guess I preferred the recommended sunset windlight with it. Check it out some time.

Grace McDunnough at The Lobster Claw Restaurant Sunday 2-15 at 1pm SLT

Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Alba/128/128/39

My friend Sepp Schimmer invited me to visit The Lobster Claw Restaurant to hear Grace McDunnough Sunday Feb. 15th at 1pm SLT.  All are welcome to this event in the gorgeous Castle View House.  Owner/designer Todalerdale Stine has a great sense of style and a great eye for detail.  We can enjoy a meal while listening to Grace,  making for a fun post-Valentine's date or fun for singles to maybe find their belated Valentine.  The build and grounds are worth a visit too.  The main build has rooms for weddings, business meetings, parties, and conferences, plus many lounge areas, formal ballroom, etc.  the sim boasts beautiful tranquil mountain theme sims with land for sale. Parcels are landscaped to a high standard and include the first month’s or weeks tier.  Rent a home and try one of their little robins cottages or vcation homes.

Sepp's invite says: "Some say Grace McDunnough may have been the unlikely digital love child of Andy Warhol without the soup can and Janis Joplin without the drugs - a hypnotic mix of subtle yet defiant artistic imagery blended with evocative, heart stopping musical highlights that permeates the veils of geography, culture and genre.
Grace is also the creator and producer of Musimmersion, founder of the Mill Pond Folk Festival, and a virtual world touring singer-songwriter streaming from Atlanta GA. She has performed on stages large and small across the Second Life grid since 2006; she was the first live musician to perform in Metaplace, and is a member of the ground breaking live music tour called Rocking The Metaverse presented by Koinup - bringing live music into several virtual worlds including Second Life, Reaction Grid, Metaplace, Twinity and Active Worlds - Europe.
Join Grace @ ReverbNation: http://reverbnation.com/gracemcdunnough

Welcome everyone, and many thanks to Todalerdale Stine for generously having us all at Castle View House & The Lobster Claw Restaurant, one of Second Life's best kept little secrets!

Sepp & Briona"

The Pixel Bean and Blithe Lost Angel Sims-Explore Second Life

Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Heart%20Song/128/128/62
I visited The Pixel Bean Coffee House at the recommendation of my friend Belinda Barnes and came to realize The Pixel Bean sim is now adjacent and connected to BlitheThe Lost Angel sim.   They are both beautifully landscaped nature areas with lots of resting/cuddle and pose spots.  I was out exploring it on the 8th and Harlow Heslop came around and we chatted and she let me know it's  her sim area.  She's a well known blogger.   She told me the area is two homesteads she's had for a long time, but recently decided it would be neat to connect them, so did, and just opened the whole region a few days prior.  It's a great place to visit so check it all out some time.

Skye Galaxy/Sean Ryan is Back Singing in Second Life Again

"Sean released a self-produced EP under the pseudonym Apollo's Child. In September 2009, he was featured alongside Belgian producer Pole Folder on the single Hollow. The track, remixed by Robert Babicz, debuted on Pete Tong's Essential Selection (BBC Radio 1) and episode 290 of Trance Around the World with Above & Beyond. Polish trance producer Nitrous Oxide released a track featuring Sean on vocals for their studio album Dreamcatcher in April 2010 entitled Come Into My World.  Sean would later co-write tracks for ATB's Distant Earth, All I Need Is You and Killing Me Inside in April 2011, followed by When It Ends It Starts Again and Straight to the Stars for the album Contact in January 2014 which peaked at No. 1 on the Polish Music Charts." See his official web site here: http://www.saneyarn.com/#bio

Skye Galaxy (Sean) is the music sensation known for sold out crowds in SL and who seemed to sort of disappear off the grid music scene for a few years, reportedly for First Life adventures in the music world.  Today I received notice Skye would be singing at Key West today 2-8-15 at Key West at 2pm SLT.  So about a quarter till I tried to get in and the sims were full with capacity at about 96 avatars with some hovering (like myself) on neighboring sims.  This is how I stood or rather hovered over the watering sim divider camming in for photos and sound.  Skye got off to a slow start with technical difficulties.  The crowd was patient and even 20 minutes later with no real music I still could not get into the sim due to it being at capacity. I was a little surprised 100 avatars would remember Skye and come so early.  I guess I should have known this would happen based on his past success. Skye is known for his beautiful voice, piano music, and specifically ballads that make all women and many men simply swoon.  I've blogged him before. His SL manager is Lo Bloch.

According to his add board it appears he will be making some more SL appearances in the near future.  I took a pic of it so you can see the schedule for future use. Plus his profile actually says: "Status: Active ➀ I am regularly AFK ➁ Inquiries may be forwarded to Lo Bloch, but note that I am completely booked—see below for dates ➂ Links and other information are located in Picks Upcoming Shows: February 8, 2:00 pm SLT, The Keys February 15, 12:00 pm SLT, The Refuge February 15, 3:00 pm SLT, The Boom Pony February 22, 3:00 pm SLT, Seaside Lounge March 15, 3:00 pm SLT, Templemore March 22, 3:00 pm SLT, The Pier"

About 30 minn later the crowd thinned to 90 and I was able to cross the boarder and get in. I stayed back a ways in hopes of remaining stable but about that time he was singing and sounded just amazing as I remember. Even better, as his voice sounds a little more mature. The ballads rolled and the crowed and I were more than pleased.    I've listened to Skye in SL since he started. He said he has a little more free time right now to sing.  He played over 30 minutes to make up for the time it took him to get his stream up and running.

Aquarelle, Explore Second Life

Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Dreamworld%20Volcano/128/128/21

I visited Aquarelle by Leica Arado.   The sim info. states: " Un Paradis pour les amoureux de la nature et des paysages !
A paradise for lovers of nature and landscape !
Rencontre,Romantisme,Amis,Ballade,Plage,Forêt,Music,Danse,
Greedy,Chevaux,Art ....
Meet,Friends,Love,Beach,Forest,Horses .....
Have Fun!"

This sim has hit the SL Destination guide and this is what they have to say about it: "Aquarelle is a landscape of lightness, softness and transparency in the colors of a watercolor. It is as if a painter invited you to jump into a painting, to bring life to the scene. Visit the beauty of the place alone, with friends or a lover and explore what is visible and what is not. Enjoy the serenity."

This is a great visit for Valentine's month since it is very scenic and has great poses, cuddles, and dances for couples, or singles too. There is also a nice art gallery on the sim with some great works by various artists.  Check it out some time.

Winter Wonder land is a super fun wintery sim filled with great stuff to see and do such as a snowmobile ride and snowboard on a great track, pick up free presents, ice skate, fun ferris wheel, explore a cute little town, watch fireworks, and most of all SNOWBALL FIGHT!  There is a whole snowball fighting area complete with buildings and trenches to hide in and more.  They offer free snowball fighting weapons and it's really a blast.  Friday February 6 from 10am to 12pm PST. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Featured-News/Join-a-Snowball-Fight-with-Lindens-amp-Enter-Our-Photo-Booth-Fun/ba-p/2893956 the Lindens write about it:
"SNOWBALL WARZONE SHOWDOWN
Come pelt some Lindens and fellow Residents with snowballs in a frozen field free-for-all at Winter Wonderland. That’s right - between 10 AM SLT and noon SLT on Friday, February 6th, we’re holding a meetup inworld at the Snowball Warzone. Get your free snow launching weapon, gather your posse, and prepare to say hello to some Linden friends for a full on flurry of snow-slinging fun."

"Grab your snow gear and head on in to Linden Lab’s Winter Wonderland. For the past few months we’ve developed a four-region winter experience many different attractions. Wander through a cozy little snow village, a mesh race track for both snowmobiles and snowboards, rides, ice skating and even a killer snowball war zone. Get in there, choose your arsenal and conquer the castle with a furious fusillade of frigid, frozen fun!"

Unfortunately I will be hard at work in the middle of my work day when this big snowball fight will occur so I went over early and took a few photos to blog here.  The sim has the snowboards and snowmobiles you rez for free and snowball guns that you can rez for free to keep.  Premium members can get their premium gifts as usual for some more "quality" snowmobiles and guns.   My friend Kathy Nikolaidis was first to tell me about the snowball fight and I see a lot of people have been blogging about it and the sim already.  I grabbed a pic of Kathy on a snowboard and few more around the area to give you an idea of what to expect.  So get on your snow gear and have some fun!

First of all I'd like to thank those of you who nominated my Kara's Korner /Kara Trapdoor for the Avi Choice Awards.  I really really appreciate it and am proud to be on the nominee list along with some amazing bloggers in 2 blogging categories.

If you'd like to vote for Kara's Korner in the Avi Choice awards along with others in various  categories in the arts and entertainment field please take the link above and vote away.  It's just for fun and also a great place to learn more about and reward some hard working artists, entertainers, and others in the field. Many people put in hours of work to enhance SL for everyone and this is an opportunity to show appreciation for those people.  I am always very grateful for sim owners who spend their money, entertainers who bring music and fun, artists who bring beauty, and media that promotes these things so I know where to go to have fun, etc.  Even if you don't want to vote for Kara, please take a moment and visit the Avi Choice Site and vote for others you like.  Thanks

2 Winter Sims to Explore-Scribbled Hearts and Umbral Photography

Here are a couple of scenic winter explores I've visited lately. It's been icy and snowing like crazy outside RL so I guess that put me back in the mood to hit the winter sims again this weekend.

Scribbled Hearts: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Scribbled%20Hearts/207/93/22
This is a gorgeous Winter sim home to the Tart and Plethora stores. The sim by Alessandra Ambrosio was put together with the help of Elvira Kytori. worn, refinished, and eclectic home & decor.

Umbral Photography at Hydra Isle is another great winter sim. Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Hydra%20Isles/128/128/21
It looks like this sim is owned by Vlady Veeper and designed by Coqueta Veeper/Coqueta Georgia.  It's a great place for photography and even says so in their little description: "A place created for photography, including seasonal landscapes, lakes, full house, animated bridges, free permits to rez your own poses."

Christiane Armanii/rejuvejoice has this great store "Christie's Bliss" AKA Rejuve's Rags.  A short time ago I went in and bought a green pantsuit I saw someone wearing that looked very classy and is a full outfit including a nice shoulder scarf and matching shoes that work with Slink.  Then I received a gorgeous gown called "Irresistable" which is exactly what it is.  It comes with matching shoes that are Slink compatible, and armband flowers that match the floral skirt trim.  The dress is part mesh with attached skirt parts for a perfect fit (in various sizes) that flows and moves for a more realistic look.  The embellishments are sparkly flowers and the gown has pleats, seams, and wrinkles in all the right places for a very classy yet sexy look.  I went over to Franks to take a photo for this blog and before I was even able to get started, I got invited to dance with an immediate compliment on the both the dress and shoes. I went back to the store again with my friend Kathy Nikolaidis and she purchased another beautiful gown, so we went out and took pictures.  In IM I told the designer that I love that she mixed the mesh gown with the flexi attachment.  Check out the store some time.

BURIED-Latest Madpea Hunt Opened Today

BURIED : Interactive & Immersive Grid-wide point & click adventure game with prizes from top designers

Here is another great MadPea "must see" hunt/game experience.

(Kiana Writer, MadPea Developer)

This morning I logged in to SL to find some great news from MadPea.  A photo I had submitted in their pre-game "Greed" photo contest for their new hunt/game "BURIED" won one of the coveted 5 early entry and free hud spots.  2 hours before their latest game/hunt "BURIED" opened today at 12pm SLT I dropped in to the above location along with 4 fellow photo contest winners and a few other early entry winners from another contest they had to find Kiana Writer and a few MadPea staff, get the hud (which normally costs 300L) and we were off to a fast start. The early entry winners were:
AngelicWarrior Commander
MrsSeren Resident
 Kara Trapdoor
Marina Breen
Chrystal Wylder
Asa Vordun
Vivena Resident
Raina Jewell
Jessy Cinderflame
Koosh Lilliehook
Etrone Resident

The most helpful info, sponsor, photos, and a great deal of info. can be found on their official web site here:  http://madpea.blogspot.com/2015/02/buried-how-to-play.html

A couple of ladies and I hopped in the first boat out and I snapped some pics.

We scrambled around the islands knowing we had a 2 hour lead before the masses dropped in (initial sim only holds 20 ppl at a time) possibly creating lag or grey, or (God forbid) not be able to get back in if needed.  I took in as much as I could before progressing to the grid wide sims/hunt part which you have to figure out how to get from the islands.  I ended up taking a few notes based on my experience with past Madpea hunts and knowing how detailed and challenging but fun they can be.   I will try not to give too much away here.  The group does that in time.  But I will say, be sure your wireframe is working and you know how to use it.   A few of us early entries continued on for a while before I took a break to go to the SL Live Radio show my friend Sonicity Fitzroy dj's Sunday afternoons.  That also gave me some great tunes and time to blog this to.  I know the next batch of Peas are scrambling around now as the group is in a frenzy with information and questions.

Upon successful completion of the game participants get 25 prizes.  There are a few things at the beginning you can buy for nominal prices to aid in the quest. Thus far I have not needed the extra items, although the flashlight might have come in handy already a couple of times.  This promises to be a fun and exciting hunt.  I did 7 locations before taking my break.  You can see the sponsor list on the web site and be assured they made some fantastic hiding places.  Those of you, like me, who like to explore will be very pleased.

You can see my winning photo over at MadPea.  I think it was a great concept but not so great pic relatively speaking as I'm no photoshopper, so guess it won on the idea : )  Thank goodness as I loved my early entry experience!
