Hey folks, it's Kara Trapdoor here again with a weekend review of Kara's Korner Second Life Adventures blogspot "Happening things around the grid".   This past week I enjoyed live music over at Idle Rogue and Ling's The Most Wonderful Party, http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Idle%20Rogue/128/128/28 I've continued following around some super great new live music talent with Whispering Sands Live promotions,  I visited Linden Endowment for the Arts http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/LEA3/128/128/22 to see many new and exciting exhibits and highly recommend LEA15 and LEA24 there and explored some other gorgeous sims around the grid as shown on my blog Stream previously.

Ok, so it's not REALLY a mystery, but I had big plans of making a video, taking photos, blogging and spamming this place and didn't.   Since it done/made I just decided to open it to the public.  I'll make a video or pics later.  You all can come visit and enjoy it too though now.  It's just my homestead open temporarily to the public. I'll let you check it out for yourselves though, but what I will say is I think it's good for dates, photography, hanging out and having fun and playing with friends and family, exploring, etc.. Please don't feel the need to critique it, as I'm not a builder and I just put together things I really like and want to share it with everyone for a while.  I probably won't have it open all that long, but a few weeks at least.  I hope you enjoy it!  xoxo KT

Prism Spring Mesh Dress Release and Sale

Today I picked up the new mesh dress "Adele" by Journey at Prism. It comes in 6 colors/designs and I chose this cute dotted spring dress. Her ad reads, "This slinky early spring dress features a banded waistline and a minimized balloon hemline. And for this week only, Adele is 25% off so you can get it for just 320L." One of the beauties of mesh is that is moves with the body and Journey has included 2 sizes in the folder to fit my av when Kara is larger or when I make her a little more petite. I also picked up the 60L weekend special, "Saturday Night" which will be a great outfit for play time or Saturday nights with this sassy little corset, vest, and skirt set.: )

While in the Prism area check out the great furniture by Lilly Juno who has placed a 60L weekend special fireplace in the main store and in the square they also include a pose/animation store and a discount shop. Twomoons Island -Alien Abduction Trailer Park-Unique Shopping and Recreation

I slipped into SL for a few moments this morning to find Twomoons is being made over into this new awesome alien abduction trailer park area with fun unique shopping and recreation. I tp'd from the car to the spaceship for a great view of the area and I have to say Twomoons always impresses me. I guess this is still under construction, but still WOW! I checked MiaSnow's blog for more info and it says there are a few rentals still available too. The Wastelands 5th Birthday Bash-January 20th-22nd

The Wastelands, an awesome SL post-apocalyptic themed residential estate, is community-driven with residents who live there paying for it to exist on the grid. This is a also a mature role play sim. Most everyone whose been in SL for much time at all has visited this creative enviornment for some reason or another whether to role play, buy some amazing outfits or gadgets, or take impressive photos in their picturesque sim. This weekend they are celebrating their 5th birthday with a lineup of events from Jan. 20th through the 22nd. The Wastelands is host to regular events, and features it's own internal combat system. The Wastelands boasts an eclectic participatory crowd at most their regular events and this weekend will be sure to delight all. I stopped in this evening for some great tunes and dancing amid the natives and had a good time. Don't miss out, be sure to visit this weekened. Schedul of events as follows:

Vintage Fair 2011-Nov. 11th -Dec 3rd

Vintage Fair 2001 is coming to Second life November 11th starting at 4pm SLT. This fair featuring vintage era (1920s-1980s) clothing and furnishing is a CHIC Management event sponsored by Ivalde, oOo Studio, Alienbear’s, Ingenue, GiZZa Creations, Artilleri, PurpleMoon Creations and Indyra Originals. This 2 sim event will feature over 200 brands and will include music every day according to the CHIC Mgt web site and SL destination guide. For more information see: www.vintagefair.tk.


(GiZZa will release this wonderful Steampunk outfit at the Fair. It comes in both men's and women's versions and I love everything about it from the hat, round glasses, bolero, all the ruffles, corset, gloves, trimmed short pants, gartered buckled stockings down to the ribboned high lace boots. The party should be fun and this sim has a LOT to offer. There are a variety of sites and sounds to explore via sky tps, as well as information, shopping etc on the base landing. Just teleport up to a variety of visual and audio experiences. For example there is the 55 Sounds 3d exhibit and the info. in part reads: "55 sounds to the sky is a journey trough 5 stations containing each 11 sounds in order to describe 5 kinds of specific sonic space-times. The idea here is to comment Schroedinger's scale relativity concept : so we will travel from sonic material that got stong identification to very tiny elements - the "scale" of sound will shrink step by step." So check it all out and don't miss the party!

The first explore is actually a shopping place too. Izzie Button has this adorable sim that is just absolutely beautiful with fall colors and makes for wonderful photos. I explored the outdoors for a long time before I ventured into her store and was equally impressed and surprised I had not come upon this store before as it is great! Izzie has quality clothes, skins, accessories, poses, discount area and amazing customer service when I just IM'd her to ask her a few questions. She said her store's been around a couple of years but new to this location since about June. I told her how much I like her products, as they seem to real and fit well. The sweater and necklace I am wearing in this one pic are from her store. Don't miss this whether you just like a great explore or shopping.. well worth the trip.

This next explore is "Aerie" in MetaLES by Cherry Manga, an exceptional SL artist I can't seem to keep up with. She keeps making and doing so much that impresses me. This is a creative sim to explore.

Solandria is a gorgeous sim for dance, meditation, photos, cuddles, posing, fairies, etc. The sim owner Soleil8 Andel said he has been working on the sim since June and already has a youtube video of the place and facebook group. It is filled with lots of beautiful flowers and scenery, straylights, garden and forest areas as well as beach areas. This might be considered a great date place.

This last explore is actually Nordan Art Gallery I've blogged before but I wanted to add this as Rebeca Bashly who has "Inferno" at LEA (a few posts back I show a video and pics I made) put up a sort of Haunted area at Nordan that will only be up through October 31st, so don't miss it. While there check out the gallery and current artist exhibits on the ground level as well. Nordan always has impressive exhibits.
