====================
Paying homage to elegant and chic Japanese couture, the 2012 Miss Virtual World Finalists will compete before a panel of judges in the eagerly anticipated WINTER WONDERLAND SHOW on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. SLT! This will be your last chance to see the 2012 Misses on one stage prior to the final competition on December 17, 2011.
Real life Broadway Actor/Singer/Songwriter Tamra Sands will perform LIVE at this event on a breathtaking winter wonderland stage created by the incomparable Maddox DuPont. Each finalist has created her own mix-and-match "kimono gone couture" look for this competition in a winter theme that will astound and delight!
We will also pay tribute and bid a very fond farewell to an amazing woman who gave so much of herself during this past year, our 2011 Miss Virtual World, Serene Faith. As we say goodbye to Serene, we sincerely thank and appreciate the special and unique gifts that she brought to the title of Miss Virtual World: her exciting and elegant styling, her assistance and guidance in helping to welcome and bring the teens into the adult grid, her compassionate, selfless, and tireless work in raising money for the Japan Relief Fund, which helped the Japanese people devastated by last year's tsunami, and so many hours spent with appearances, lectures, and interviews. Her heart is always open and her elegance beyond compare, so please join us in a memorable tribute to this remarkable woman!
A special thank you to Dahriel Resident who created the stunning WINTER WONDERLAND SHOW poster.
You will want to arrive early to get a seat as we expect a full house for this event!"

My good Friend Cafi suggested I might like this sim and handed me a landmark. He knows what I love and this was it. This sim is loaded with beauty, unusual, pose balls, stray lights, magic doors, flying elephants and baloons (big and small) faces in rocks, gargoyles, flowers and grasses, crazy trees, a giant mother turtle with a building on her back and two babies nearby, a steampunkish air ship, colors colors everywhere, more pose balls, moving waters, and did I say colors?, bubbles, statues, skywriting, birds and butterflies, a huge treehouse, boats and so much more. Yes.. I love it all. I was joined by friends Belinda Barnes, Burly Tigerpaw and Gimee Sorbet. There is a lot to see, so don't miss a bit of it. The sim is by rikku Yalin.
So, yeah.. I took a lot of photos.. : )

My friend Toogy IM'd me today saying she was thinking about going out as a dark fairy. After some discussion we decided to go play together and maybe take some photos. I was headed to "The Dark Swamp" anyway, and the place worked out great for some playtime and photos/filming as it is very beautiful with pretty water, grasses, trees, a swing that all go well with windlights. I made a short vid to the Pan's Labrynth song.
This is a Cherry Manga build so you know it's great. There is a shop and tps to some sky areas and the shop sells some very nice things and some fun stuff at great prices. Perfect for fairys : ) The sim info. says, "Very low price items by Cherry Manga and Loup Erin.
Skins, Tattoos, clothes and accessories, complete avatars. Furniture and home decoration, garden plants and tree. Art sculptures."

I popped into this next explore to the tune of the "My Name I Michael" song playing in their sim which I thought was cute considering I haven't heard that song for ages and this is an adult Gor role play sim. It was actually Gorian Radio that played a wide variety of music while I was in the sim. In this place you have to wear the meter even if entering as an observer. They had some specific guidelines at the entry so I conformed. When I exited the landing cave I was pleasantly surprised at the very cool build I viewed below me. I strolled around and enjoyed my first SL sand storm and I entered some very cool caves. Of course my curiosity got the better of me so I allowed myself to drop into a type of cistern or hole in the cave floor only to find myself trapped in a shallow watery area. So I cheated and flew out since no one came to my rescue. The place has great waterfalls and other scenic areas. It sits right next door to City of Tor. I was really pretty impressed with the scenery. It looks like they have Gor events scheduled too. The radio personality talked of events in the city of three moons, and this place has three moons, so must be the place. Check it out if you have interest in this.

Linden Realms
Experience a whole new side of Second Life in Linden Realms — quest, conquer and gain Linden Dollars! For Premium Members only. Visit here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Nysray/128/128/79 or direct link here: NysrayHere.
So I've been hearing about the premium beta of Linden Realms for premium members and got curious. Apparently there are various "portals" around the grid to go to special places, and get free things. I went to the SL destination guide and saw some of these listed. I saw at least 6, Nysray, Bricker, Prodesse, Exemplar, Formonsa, and Mirus. I tp'd to Prodesse and asked someone there was what going on and the purpose. She said the area is a sandbox for premium users. I figured there had to be much more to it than that. So I tried the next one, Nysray. When there I picked up another gift pack that contained furniture crafted by Colleen Desmoulins of The Loft.
There is a zip line to a portal in Nysray. Kara on Phoenix viewer saw the portal as a big grey blob but Krys saw the portal as a cool entrance portal (as she is on Firestorm and can see Mesh) and Kara followed her in. Once in it automatically loaded a whole different interface and game. It automatically attached a hud. It had a menu and explained in script what to do. The first challenge was to gather 3 colored crystals. In my first attempt I wandered into some bad water trying to pic up a crystal and was instantly killed and sent back to a landing point. My next attempt got me killed by a moving bolder type thing that chased me and ran me over. I switched directions going up a hill to pick up some crystals of two of the needed colors. From there I cam'd the area for the elusive red crystal and to see what was around. I saw huge rocks with faces spewing lava boulders that also looked lethal and other interesting sites.
The graphic design was of a more cartoonish nature than SL. Parts of it are mesh. I'm not totally into quests or games if given a choice of my normal social interactive SL type play, so that was about as far as I got. I asked someone else there what they thought of it and the response was, that it's interesting, but not exciting. Exactly what I thought. I am wondering if LL made this for new avatars to learn how to manipulate in the form of a game, and/or as a reward for premium users, maybe geared more toward newer users or something. Or maybe it's in part testing some things. Maybe I'm not a typical gamer. SL to me is very social and more about what yo make of it. No rules or getting killed by a rock involved in my normal play. Anyway, it was very interesting and I guess some people really like it a lot. Maybe a fun way to gain extra Lindens. Here's what SL site has to say about it: " Linden Realms takes you through basic exploration and game-play, where you can earn Linden dollars by gathering gems and completing quests." Tryptophan Coma Time
That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Blame it on the Tryptophan. Nap time. : ) I actually think I'm addicted to tryptophan.... but I think I'll quit cold turkey.
Online sources say you have to eat approx 4O lbs of turkey to fall asleep from the trypophan in it. Did I eat that much? 40 lbs.. really? I did take a short nap in front of the tv with all the relatives talking, or the ones that were still awake anyway. Maybe that is why some of us dozed off now that I think about it, or maybe it was those 5 cookies and pie I ate after a huge plate of turkey, tons of potatoes and gravy, dressing, green bean casserole, roll, deviled eggs, cranberries, 4 different salads, drinks etc. Mabye, but I blame it on the tryptophan. And Aunt May who was still asleep on the sofa when I left for home will probably wake up at 3:30am in the Best Buy checkout line with a new Ipod in hand. On Sale! Woot! Blame it on the tryptophan.

Holiday Gifts -Happy Thanksgiving
My good friend Brian Flickr'd a cool free outfit and dollarbee skin. Later he and I made a pic with the outfits and I thought I'd share the info. here.
The skin is "his and hers" Thanksgiving gift group dollarbee skin from Akeruka. The men's light hair base is very nice. The definition is great and the men's chest comes with a turkey tattoo on it while the female skin is also well done with small autumn colored leaves up the side of the stomach and chest area and both sport the scripted words, "Happy Thanksgiving" on the upper back as shown. This is a Thanksgiving group special dollarbee and the store also offers another group freebie skin for both men and women.

The free "Dreamcatcher" outfit is from Egoisme. It is a full outfit as shown and comes with male and female versions. It is found in a "diamond" on the side of a display wall. Check it out here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Dominus/190/153/35

Special thanks to Brian for finding these outfits and skins. Check out his Flickr here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/daneluvrbri/6396876955/in/photostream or direct link here: BrianFlickrHere.
I hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving! : )
UPDATE: AKERUKA just set their group join to 0$L and marked all their skins to 1/2 price for Black Friday... RUN!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving
I'm thankful this day always allows me two extra days off work! I'm thankful for many things in my real life and I'm also thankful for my friends and fun times in Second Life.
Thanksgiving offers a lot of nice places to visit in Second Life and so many fun costumes I had a hard time picking my favorites for a photo. These happen to be some of my favorites at good prices.
Top Left-Sexy his and Hers outfits from LoveCats
Top Right-SL Marketplace child turkey costume
Bottom Left-SL Marketplace Who's the Turkey child costume
Bottom Right: Mine is a 25L Special from HoWear
"Thanksgiving in North America had originated from a mix of European and Native traditions. Typically in Europe, festivals were held before and after the harvest cycles to give thanks for a good harvest, and to rejoice together after much hard work with the rest of the community. At the time, Native Americans had also celebrated the end of a harvest season. When Europeans first arrived to the Americas, they brought with them their own harvest festival traditions from Europe, celebrating their safe voyage, peace and good harvest.[1] Though the origins of the holiday in both Canada and the United States are similar" Wiki
A general Thanksgiving prayer: Almighty God our Father, your generous goodness comes to us new every day. By the work of your Spirit lead us to acknowledge your goodness, give thanks for your benefits, and serve you in willing obedience, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

I found another cool sim to visit and the residents were very friendly. Mystico is a fantasy role play type sim perfect for me playing elf or fairy and taking photos, as it is very beautiful and interesting. This quaint little village is nestled in a fjord surrounded by beautiful mountains. Romantic music plays while the ambient sounds of cooing doves and earthy sounds fill the forest atmosphere. There are many dance places and pose balls and interesting sites to see. The sim owner is Giuliano Straaf and I met the ambassador, Blutsaeger Resident. I also met P3terP4N Resident who resides there and has a colorful history. He was very kind and helpful and posed for some photos with me. The SL destination guide says this about the sim, "Enter Mystico Ville, a fantasy RPG village populated with colorful characters and big adventures". There are so many beautiful places in this sim.. and just before I left I found even more places in the sky to visit.

November 20th commemorates the start of the Mexican Revolution by Francisco I. Madero in 1910. Lindens for Language and Instituto Espanol presented a Saturday of festivities with a full lineup of musicians, DJs and Karaoke. The third Monday in November is the official observance of Dia de la Independencia. I've visited this sim previously as they have a cool club. They also offer Spanish classes for all levels from beginners to advanced. This weekend there are even more displays due to the holiday. There is a lower level that is a type of museum with photo displays and the upper level is covered with informational displays and shopping. This sim normally does a great job providing information, displays, shopping, classes and events in the club and this is an even extra special weekend, so it's a great time to visit.

The next sim I visited is 1920's Berlin Project which I have been to previously but they are having some events for children today and tomorrow that I wanted to check out. I'm not normally a child av, but it's fun to do different things once in a while and I know this sim to be an exceptional build so thought I'd check it out. I made myself into a vintage child av for the sake of .. "when in Rome...." and popped in to see what was going on. Besides they have free stuff : ) including child shapes and clothes for the events. Of course I forgot to remove my lipstick until later so my "child" was a little strange one.I didn't make the train tour but there will be another tomorrow and there is a full lineup of events for today and tomorrow, so check it out whether a child or adult av. Normally I see mostly adult avatars in the sim, but today there were families and lots of children for the specials. I was given permission to just quote their event note card, as usually the notes say it best...

Some of the things they have to offer than might be of special interest to children include:
What we have to offer:
-A rather big busy city neighbourhood with lots to explore
-An unique very close and dedicated roleplay community
-A school
-A spooky burned building
-A train to ride around with
-A bath house with pool to swim in
-A park to play in
-A football field
-Barracks where you can see soldiers practice drill, march, etc
-A Zeppelin to fly in
-Many streets to run, play and explore
-Not too much traffic
-Watch a movie in the cinema
-Grumpy police officers who will chase you and clip you around the back of the head if you cause trouble
-A secret clubhouse that only kids can enter!
-and much much more.
Later I went back for class. Note naughty Trudie in the corner. Freidrich was also naughty sleeping in class so had to stand with his arms out. I was a good student but forgot my apple for herr someone the teacher. I learned some good German words and Trudie's bad one. Later Mila Edelman of "Old Time Prims" (a vintage clothing and furnite store) helped me out with a more realistic skin for the period which I put on after class. My clothes and hair are also from Old Time Prims. I have the freebie child shape and IDK what else on really.

Explore Second Life-Visit New Role Play Sim VENEXIA
Visit here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Venexia/146/157/27 or direct link here: VENEXIAhere.
I'm going to let my hair down and go exploring and dancing and kicking back in Second Life today. It's play time. IM me in-world if you want to play.
(Kora)
(Baal)
My first quick explore of the day is in "VENEXIA" which is a gorgeous build. This is a role play sim and I took a 3 day visitor/observer tag, as it appears to be vampire themed (of which I am not one). Victorian dress apparently is the way to go and it looks like the sim is new and the rule giver wouldn't pass me the rules, but I agreed to them regardless as I'm a good girl and shouldn't do anything wrong by accident I suppose. The visitor tags are endless so if I want to visit more often but not join the groups it's allowed. Of course I took some photos. While there I actually ran into some people I know. I was given the information that the sim is owned by and built by Kora Zenovka and Baal Zobel who also built kingdom of Sand, Golgothica and Nemos (all also amazing builds). VENEXIA is only 13 days old yet draws a good number of people and I can't say I felt any lag. I briefly spoke with Kora and she said, " Baal Zobel and me own it. He builds, I do scripting." So there you have it... a new role play sim in an amazing build. Be fore-warned though it is vampire themed if that is not your thing. For photos I snapped friends or players with permission and I dressed myself Victorian red then as a bar wench for variety in the shots. Victorian music played in the background as I strolled through the latern and flagged lit alleyways I found bars, rented residences, a theater, beautiful waterway bridges, lounge areas, courtyards, etc and they were each of them very picturesque. There are also some very nice shops near the landing area where the rules, RP info and group info., observer OOC tags, etc. are located.

Prism, Free "Keira" Group Gift
Visit here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Bal%20Harbour/26/184/22 or direct link here: PrismHere.
My sis showed me her cool new outfit "Keira" by Journey McLaglen, of Prism and said she picked it up totally free as a group gift found in the Prism section at Mimi's Choice. I told her I already had that outfit and that we should do a pic together for my blog in them. So here we are. Keira comes in 4 different colors and patterns. This makes a nice fall outfit as a short sweater dress with high socks that can be worn with or without the cuffs and arm warmers. Lexi on the right wears the free group gift in Mushroom Stripes coloring. I have on Winter Stripes. Mimi's Choice here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Deep%20House%20Island/96/82/22 or direct link here: MimisHere.

Many of us have enjoyed some of the best art in SL all in one place monthly in the UWA 3D Open Art Challenge area and it's now time for the People's Choice Grand Finale. Deadline for submission is November 30, so check them all out now. Prizes listed toward the bottom of this post, but also note huge prizes just for voting. That's right great prizes for the winning artists but also for some attendees just for voting-see rules below.
I won't say what my favs are but a few that I especially enjoyed today include Fuschia Nightfire's "Sillhouettes" which I found to be an interesting concept as well as a fun exhibit to try out and "The Matter of Ideas" by Gleman Jun which also was a cool concept and fun to watch. While in my Fuschia's shadow avatar I went ahead and jumped into Nish Mip's "Turning the Tide" as it's also a piece about making a difference and I like the colors and exhibits for a picture. There is so much to see and do and I really appreciate all the artists contributions and UWA for running and sponsoring this.
Be sure to visit the UWA web site for more information. I have their site on my sidebar for a quick jump over there or direct link above. Their information note that I received from JayJay says it all best so I will just quote parts of it here:

Vintage Fair is Now Open.
Visit here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Classic/126/254/22 or direct link here: VintageFairHere.
*sigh* as expected hour one of Vintage Fair... but I'm sure grey will clear up and lag will thin out at some point before close December 3rd. What I do see looks great so far. The Awesome GiZZa Steampunk outfit I see on the model that I previously blogged a couple of posts back and some of the clothes and things I can cam in on in stores, plus I've picked up one freebie so far via long distance cam. Remember to keep the scripts and prims low. I tried to get my arc in the green, but that is tough unless just wearing a art or fair skin. I will say I wish designers would release their fair products in the stores on fair dates too, as not everyone can handle a fair lag but might want an outfit. The beauty of a fair is the products, stores and new releases are all in one place though. I also wish they'd provide more landing points as people tend to stack and freeze. It will all work out. See you and everyone else there.

Mesh
So I got on Firestorm today and bought a Dollcoco Avatar doll and dress. They seem to be all the latest rage. I really wasn't as stable on Firestorm as I am on Phoenix but I just wanted a doll av and I wanted to see Mesh. I love the doll, not as much as my regular avatar, but it is still very cute. I like the Mesh ok. I don't like that my computer crashed a LOT though. Now that I am back on Phoenix it's very stable again. Hmmmm. Anyway.. about the doll. It's a ball pin doll av. So I made a short messy video to save and it shows all, well most, her parts. She came with a free body, but I chose the head that comes with closed eyes and a tear optional heads. I also bought one dress since mesh seems to be body shape specific and had to have one that works with the doll. The doll was able to wear some hair I had already though. I'm thinking it's going to be a while before everyone is on board with this mesh business and in the mean time I am quite sure I looked very goofy to friends who don't have meshed enabled viewers. But it was a fun experiment and I guess eventually we will all go the mesh road. Yeah yeah, the video is poorly edited and a little naughty but at least she made it home before sun-up and it shows most the ball-pin parts to see how the doll looks.
