Kara's Annual Second Life New Year's Resolutions
Various online sources consistently say about 78 percent of people who make New Year’s resolutions do not follow through on those vows according to past studies. In light of that and my own personal experiences I decided to make some SL new year resolutions I might be better able to keep this year. Last year I thought I did a good job focusing on some great goals as listed here: http://karasecondlife.blogspot.com/2010/12/sl-new-years-resolutions-in-making.html or direct link here: LastYearNewYearsResolutionsHere. This year? Yeah.. Im going to try to make some I might be able to keep. So here we go...
I resolve:
1) I will eat all kinds of chocolate especially the 100% fat kind, chips, and drink pop and belch while sitting at the computer for hours.
2)I will promptly lose all newly purchased items into the abyss of an inventory.
3)I will let go of my feelings of guilt and get in touch with my inner sociopath just as others in SL do and live in SL guilt free.
4)I will gain 20 lbs. RL all in the tummy so that the laptop can rest comfortably on it and keep it cozy and warm.
5)I will channel my imagination into ever-soaring levels of suspicion and paranoia, as seems the norm in SL.
6)I will use 4 letter words after my computer crashes.
7)I will forget to add panties under skirts so that every guy gets a good eyeful and enjoys their SL experience just that much more.
8)I will never curse designers who neglect (or purposefully) leave out panties under skirts or use up that layer for something else but neglect undies altogether and I will just enjoy helping out with the #7 above and enjoy the breeze, rather than spending hours trying to find a layer to cover.
9)I will embrace my duality.
10)I will no longer waste my time reliving the past, but rather I will spend it worrying about the future.
11)I will remember that the complete lack of evidence is the surest proof that the conspiracy is working.
12)I will max out all credit cards buying Linden to feed my inner hoarder.
13)I will over-edit hairs so badly I have to just trash them because I forgot to save a copy first.
14)I will understand that all guys look at boobs of all shapes and sizes.
15)I will forget to clear my cache.
16)When someone hurts me I will know that forgiveness is easier than griefing, but not nearly as rewarding.
17)I will live each day like it's my 20th birthday, just as my avatar looks.
18)I will leave empty packages around my house.
19) I will fall asleep on the computer while friends try to talk to me.
20)That just for today I will not sit in my living room all day in my underwear. Instead, I will move my computer into the bedroom.
21)I will perv cam personal spaces in the "naughty sims" to my hearts content.
22)I will share all my experiences and advice, for there are no sweeter words than, "I told you so." I will also air all my RL dirty laundry because in SL we are anonymous after all and it makes for interesting conversation.
23)I will gossip like crazy as again.. great convo.
24)I will forget friends birthdays, anniversaries, rez days and so forth.
25)I will lie about my age subtracting at least 7 years especially to 20 something hot looking avatars.
26)I will never ever sort my inventory, categorize, box or purge things.
27)I won't waste time learning new skills or making or doing anything other than playing.
28)I will not suffer in silence while I can moan, whimper and complain.
29)I will play on all my alts around all my friend without telling them who I am just like everyone else does.
Ok, obviously I sorta partially nabbed some of these that have been around a while off the Internet. I found something from blogger, "Mint", who said she resolves to, "blog daily. It's cathartic and I'm delusional enough to believe that somewhere, somebody really gives a damn about what I have to say on any given subject. I may be talking at the air, but it sure feels good to feel important to a bunch of strangers. I draw the line at tweeting though. I'm pretty sure no one gives a damn about a blow-by-blow accounting of my day and if they do, it's time to get a life." That makes sense. And I'll end with the same quote by Mark Twain that I ended with last year:
"New Year's Day… now is the accepted time to make your regular annual good resolutions. Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual."

Mesh Avatar Bel-New Horo V3 MESH Avatar
My good friend Belinda Barnes tried out the new mesh avatar. She Flickr'd all the details and when I asked, she told me I can just copy it all here for anyone who might be interested to see.

FINALLY
Kara Trapdoor and I tried for hours to rez details around the face, breasts and er... other areas.
Turns out you MUST to go to the "DEVELOP" menu in your viewer and then go to "RENDER/Full Res Textures". On the older 1.23 Viewers it's ADVANCED/DEBUG/TextureLoadFullRes. BEWARE some computers may not handle this level of rendering and will crash.
I spoke with the maker Horo Kral and he says he will add this information to the avatar instructions.
He also informed me that as the Lindens develop viewers that support mesh facial animation he will add this feature in upcoming versions. He also assures me sexier and more varied clothing will be available soon.
** Shot with Windlight @ [Analu] studio7 using my own "Belinda" shape. Images cropped but un-retouched. MESH Hair by Alice Project.

My opinion at this time is that it's cool to try and see, but personally for daily wear I'll wait a while until it's a little more advanced and there is a bit more variety. Bel likes to try new things and is cutting edge, as am I usually. I have to say I am thrilled with the feet!

Merry Christmas!
Luke 2: "8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” The Bible

"A Steampunk Christmas" The Adventures of Bel and Soni-Adorable Book Made in SL
(book cover texture courtesy of Sonicity Fitzroy)
My friend Sonicity Fitzroy is at it again and this time the RL published author has made a SL children's book called, "A Steampunk Christmas" The Adventures of Bel and Soni. The story is a whimsical steampunk adventure of 2 young girls with very different personalities, their curious cat, and a runaway Christmas present. Their pursuit of the enchanted gift leads them on their adventure and full circle back home in time for Christmas day. The vibrant colors, and adorable steampunk styling lends to beautiful illustrations complimenting this enjoyable Christmas story.
Soni is giving away her book for free just in time for Christmas. I think they'd make great Christmas gifts and I'm not just saying that because my avatar plays the role of the mischievous cat. The books can be found in kiosks at Lowe Runo Productions Office and A Flicker in Time Art Gallery.
To view the book online head on over to:http://issuu.com/soniceproductions/docs/steampunkchristmas or direct link here: SonisBookHere.
To pick up a free copy head on over to Lowe Runo Productions, LLC office here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Island%20of%20Fame/95/81/25 or direct link here: LRPHere. Or at A Flickr in Time Gallery here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Rigby/169/40/23 or direct link here: FlickerInTimeHere.

LaVie has outdone themselves again. This great skin store has a super cool December group gift of a full santa av/outfit for the guys and a snowflake full av/outfit for the girls. We all know LaVie is quality. But they also have presents all around their store filled with very nice items such as pajamas, scarves, and a lot of nice things that I will let you find for yourselves and not spoil all the surprise. Then on a table out front there is this cool hat with a lot of nice Christmas scene detail on the brim. There are also skates and hats in the back near skating and a snowman that will throw snowballs at you. Enjoy.

The Master Plan-Of Home and Furniture Shopping-And Rich Old Men
Ok ladies, here's the plan, we'll get some "rich old dude" to shack up with the 3 of us girls together so we can live in this beautiful mansion.. Kathy said (Or, something like that)
I added, We'll lay in wait at the entrance and jump him when he comes shopping for a mansion, and he won't know what hit him when our 3 beautiful young avatars approach with our womanly wiles.
Then we will drug him when it's our turn to have "special time" with hims so he won't remember or know what didn't happen, and later tell him how great he was so we won't REALLY have to be with him that way. Emma suggested. (I think she said)
And so the plan progressed. Emma graciously offered to sacrifice the master bed and bedroom to myself, Kathy and the "rich old dude" and take one of the spare bedrooms, to which Kathy and I secretly bemoaned we didn't think of that first. Although Kathy and I were very pleased with the 2 spacious his and her's closets in the master bedroom but wondered where the "rich old dude" would put his things though. All three of us dreamed of laying around in the luxurious sun room (which Emma advised she thought rich people surely called it a conservatory, but then Kathy said that was only in Clue) with a good book and some tea in our spare time while "rich old dude" would surely be napping.
"Rich old dude" was not coming along to the mansion demo area fast enough so we began exploring our contact lists for possibilities. Cougar Kathy has a few very young prospects on the back burner and so I requested she ask one of them if they have a "rich old dude" grandfather they might contribute to our cause.
We really thought this was a good plan, I mean wouldn't any sane "rich old dude" be thrilled to have the 3 of us easy ladies, but I won't say free, as in the end this would be a very costly venture for any "rich old dude". This was all happening at the very cool Prefabulous homes demo area. Apparently all 3 of us ladies like to shop for homes, furnishings, clothes, well anything. And somehow we ended up at this high quality and impressive home store.
Meanwhile Emma had been macking on one of Eliza Wierwight's homes. All three of us LOVE Elia's furniture and decor and she is known for her amazing art in SL. We also checked out this place Emma eventually ended up buying as ironically it went on sale this week for a limited time.
(Patron)
We also checked out The Abiss beach house. I was the first one in the hot tub and we all enjoyed the many built in poses too such as in the closet : )
(The Abiss)
We visited Bellarose which also sells fine furnishing and homes. I found a house I might just make my next one.

Later I also checked out the wonderful store, The Loft, for furniture here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/The%20Loft/129/35/22 or direct link here: TheLoftHere.
Later in the evening Emma excitedly emailed me soon after we had all said goodnight because it was so late and she told me Eliza had just put her Christmas garland for sale.. we met each other over there again and snatched some up. Ironically we both had been complaining to each other how we so wanted Eliza's garland that she had all over her store but not for sale. Then wallah.. it went on sale for us.
Now you might ask yourself why three young ladies were out house and fine furniture shopping all evening instead of looking some more for Mr. Right of the mansion sort.. well.... I was on a mission to find some nice furniture for my latest adventure. It's still in the making and top secret but I will say it comes with a little winter wonderland area with tons of props and poses and fun things to play on. And I'll give a hint... it starts with "Art" and ends with "Gallery". Yup.. and it will have a little something for and from everyone I think. Soooo, I'll keep the blog posted. Meanwhile if there are any "rich old dudes" reading this... give me a call.
And about the "rich old dude" thing .. none of us are really that shallow, we were actually just joking about that .... sort of.
(And to think I blogged about trying hard to find nice homes and furniture in SL about a year ago, and now there are so many nice things--as a side note I am still in a LaGalleria home with some of their furnishing, which I love)

Then I saw some gorgeous hanging ornaments I wanted to put out for decorations and lo and behold they are FREE at AlchemImmortalis a old world type sim that is also an exceptional explore with rainy mountains full of sheep and lots of beauty. There are stores full of old world magical things, cottages, furniture, jewelry, well a huge variety. If you head toward the back there is a little room with a Christmas tree and fireplace area with a bunch of presents set to free under the tree. The beautiful ornaments are in one of the boxes and the rest of the gifts are also very special.
