Naxos pointed something out to me today that I just have to share here. The MTV Catfish TV show "brings together couples that thave online relationships to meet offline for the first time, often with surprising results as the differences between online personas and offline lives are revealed". According to the Linden Lab community news here: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Featured-News/MTV-s-Catfish-is-Seeking-Second-Life-Stories/ba-p/1908805
Check out show info here: http://www.mtv.com/shows/catfish/series.jhtml
MTW is now looking for Second Life users who may be in a online relationship and would like to meet their virtual love in real life. If anyone is interesting in being on the show they can check it all out here: https://mtvcasting.wufoo.com/forms/mtvs-catfish-season-2-casting-application/ and fill out this MTV Catfish season 2 casting call for their show. Sounds pretty interesting and I'd love to see someone I know on the show. I hope there are some SL takers and good luck to them.

Capcat Ragu and Meilo Minotaur have another stage in their Delicatessen Meta Body II sim. If you have not been keeping up, these two have over time created interesting explores and now in 4 stages a large number of completely free avatars to discover and take along the way. They encourage photo taking and machinima and have Flickr places to put these.
The Avatars:
Stage I: Sophia by Kikas Babenco, Golden Brown by Cold Frig, Gorgonia by Moki Yuitza, Amazonia by Wanda Beamish, Aquavariel Avatar by Fitch Woodrunner, Green Lagoon Man by Fuschia Nightfire.
Stage II: alpha.tribe Meta Body avatar by alpha.tribe, Chess by Cherry Manga, Alma Blood and Shiverdoll by Eila Magnolia, Christina by CapCat Ragu, darkdoll by Meilo Minotaur, Smoke by Ursula Floresby, Metamorphosis by Piedra Lubitsch. .
Stage III: Steam Boy and Wind Girl by Ggabriel Madruga, Blind Train by Eupalinos ugajin, Ragdohcchio by Veleda Lorakeet, appointment in the garden by Simotron Aquila, Can't stop dancing by Cherry Ravinelli.
Stage IV: Suppressed Red Ridiing Hood by Mimesis Monday, Cica's Meta body Avatar by Cica Ghost, Erato Fractal by Fuschia Nightfire, Hands Free Av and Vibranced Av by Serenvide, Cosmic Radiance by Rhojen Resident.
All the sound installation by: Takio Ro.
In stage one harvest your free avatars from the cocoon like pods in the tree.
In stage two grab your free avatars from a dark gallery hall of moving pictures.
In stage three pluck your free avatars from boxes on the side of a building surrounding a sort of being.
In stage four take the free avatars from glowing balls around the perimeter of a large tenticled sealike or alienlike creature.
(Peter and I in the chess avs)
(Then Yesikita showed up to try out some of the avatars)
Sure, once again I don't totally "get" all of the build or avatars, but they are cool and fun to explore and experience. I'm sure others have different ideas about what it's all about or means or maybe it's just for fun, which it is. Go and check it out for yourself and enjoy the many sites and freebies to be had.

Harlem Shuffle, Harlem Shake in Second Life
I couldn't resist doing a quick SL version of the Harlem Shake/Shuffle that is viral on YouTube and everyone is dancing to and making movies with. The dances are 1L plus a lot of other stuff in the box here: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/BC-How-To-Harlem-Shake-Group-Sync/4559056
Griefing or Accident? Who knows But it was Weird
So my neighbor at Elysian Fields, Kara's Korner on Dream Island, IM'd me asking if I could come over to the sim. I was at my primary home at the time, but tp'd on over. I landed on my parcel and immediately noted I was completely surrounded by prim material. I instantly returned to owner over 3,000 prim that did not belong to me. So much for leaving land build rights open to the public. But I soon noted the problem wasn't just on my land.. the entire sim had been buried in something.
(My neighbor Sag took these top two pics of the entire sim coverage)
We slowly got the mass narrowed down to one quarter parcel whose owner was not online. The sim owner then came to the rescue and deleted the rest. This was a huge WOW factor for me as the prim mass went very high up in the sky and was quite impressive if not annoying. Some friends came over and we all speculated about the stuff. I also sent a note to the person the many prims belonged to, Hanibal Lordhunter, asking for an explanation. I mean, it could have been a accident. Maybe. I haven't ever reported anyone before, but unless this was some accident I might. I initially thought it was a rezzer thing and 3 of the 4 quarters of the sim allowed building, so who knows.
We discussed the prim pieces too, since it was quite different. The pieces were not phantom. The prims were invisible outside, hollow with plywood inside and they had odd visual properties as you couldn't see them when you flew into them but would rather bang up against them. But if you cammed around inside you saw the backside wall that hit your nose. Desdemona seemed to be more of an expert with the observations. She also said she thought they were sculpts.. with inverted textures. While I was trying to rid the sim of the pests she was making some good observations and also noted they could've just textured, that was the inside out texture, like a hollow sphere with transparent on the outside surface. She said it was not an exponential rezzer, but probably one object just blasting away she believed. All I know is I removed all of it from my quarter via the land management, but on the neighbors I could only remove one piece at a time in a very slow tedious process until the sim owner came and took the rest down. Those present were my neighbors Sag and Jacera, friends Emma, Cue, Divi, Desdemona, and our sim owner Nate. We stood around talking about it for a while after, so was good to see everyone and no real harm done other than a little lost time and excitement.
(I took this pic of what was left when only 1/4 of the sim was left to uncover)
(The gang)
(Later a dance at Elysian Fields,,,sim back to normal)
If you want to visit, it's open for exploring and hanging out with a fun cave, grottos, tons of poses and animations, dancing and cuddles in a beautiful area. Sorry but you can't rez any more unless you join the group. And if you do rez stuff, please don't put one of these mosters primmy things on my land. Thanks : ) Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Dream%20Island/128/128/22

Little Red Riding Hood-The Other Side of the Story-Opened Today 2-17-13
Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/The%20Companion/128/128/22
(Cherry and Analy)
Cherry Manga (dressed as Little Red) and Analy Piers (Snow White with a following of dwarfs) led tours today starting at 12 SLT through their exhibit opening at The Companion. Suggested windlight was Tor Sci Fi Bridge Oper 1 which was just amazing (Also try A-3AM as it's very different but clearer and you can see Soror's trees in better color) WOW! We, the party of tourist through this exhibit, were amazed at the ebbing and flowing glowing colorful, yet dark, world around us. And yes, it is a VERY adult and graphic version of the old 1790 Brothers Grimm "Little Red Riding Hood" story. The bottom level is by Cherry and Analy with some landscaping by Soror Nishi, and there is a top section by Alpha Auer and her alt Alpho Fullstop. At the top level there is a free cool unique avatar to be had from a gift ball thingy. Alpha credits much of her wolf head features to Leben Schnabel.
Then toward the end of our visit the person I assumed to be hostess, Mimesis Monday, (Proverbium) let me know she is my old friend Frigg Ragu or Norwegian, Heidi Dahlsveen RL. She actually owns the land, The Companion, on which this exhibit is held and is a RL/SL artist and story teller in her own right. She advised me she changed to Mimesis as some people misunderstood her prior name, so she is most often Mimesis now. I've heard she may be doing some storytelling at The Companion.
Anyway.. the wolf face can be seen along the way.. in trees and all over. Little Red meets the wolf and they hit it off dance and get it on, in essence she lost her innocence, is victimized by the beast, but later in a pouring rain of red blood, the wolf gets it in the end. (The knife Little Red is weilding may be hard to see in this picture, but there she is getting revenge)The scenes are pretty graphic. The upper level depicts a group of wolves looking on as their main wolf is slowly spinning pinned or stabbed before them. It was a bit confusing at first.. nothing at all like the story I used to know. I took a lot of photos and went to Alpha's site for more information about the storyline here: http://www.alphaauer.com/?p=3911
A lot of the regular art goers were there including: Yesikita Coppola, Hypatia Pickens, Mystchavos Gryn, Alpha Auer, Alpho Fullstop, Jewel Appletor, TYLER, The Secretful Girl, Simotron Aquila, Cica Ghost, Kelty, Voyot, Rhojen, Suki, Yann Minh, Bear Silvershade, Sprite, Luc Fiercaster, leMelonRouge, June Angerona, Ziki Questi, Cat shilova, Namor Xue, Derry McMahon, Gem Priez, Coxi WuWai Chun, ChimKami, duna Gant, Cherry Manga, Harbor Galaxy, Anley Piers, SaveMe Oh, Kenzie, Betty Tureaud, Dividni Shostakovich, Desdemona, Tim Deschanel, Burlybri Tigerpaw, Babydoll Tracy Riederer, and more dropping in all the while I was there for the opening. Be sure to check it out and I heard it will be open through mid April.

Metaverse Week in Review Talks About One Billion Rising February 14th and other Hot Current Events and Topics
Sunday at 12 noon SLT Mal Burns/malburns writer and Saffia Widdershins hosted the week in review show and guests this week included Honour McMillian, Victor1st Mornington/Vic, and Jayjay Zifanwe. Be sure to check out one of the shows inworld http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Chilbo/18/203/121or on stream http://metaverseweekinreview.com/
or copies on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/user/MalBurns?feature=watch
The intial topic was the One Billion Rising event that will be held to raise awareness. This will be held on Valentines day Thursday Feburary 14. It's based on V day, as there is emphasis on Valentines day with all the Valentines Day events going on but at the same time all this violence towards women going on. RL information here: http://www.onebillionrising.org/.
One out of every 3 women in the world will experience violence during her lifetime which totals more than one billion. Women, and the men who love them, will participate will walk away from their homes, businesses and jobs on Valentine’s Day and join together to dance in a show of collective strength.
One Billion Rising in Second Life is an officially registered event associated with the real live movement. 24 hours, 24 performers and 24 artists on 4 sims. The 24 hour event will have a host 24 performers and 24 artists including some well known such as Bryn Oh, Gracie Kendal, Maloe and Capcat and some not so well known will exhibit art. The event will be held on a 4 sim area. There will be a open house midnight to about 1pm Wednesday for bloggers and media and people wanting a sneak peek. Then Wednesday about 1pm they close to check and review everything and will reopen Thursday for the 24 hour event. They described the 200m (on a side) stage as like a stadium without seats, and repeatedly said it is a very large build. The 4 sims can hold 50 avatars at a time per sim for a total of 200 dancers. By Tuesday there will be a complete list of artists and musician available. The 11pm Thursday SLT finale will be Noma Falta at the end of the 24 hour period. They will also be livestreaming for the 24 hours on Mal's stream.
The stage was described as being on all 4 sims and is a very very large cylinder cut into 4 pizza like slices pieces that will cut back on lag and sim crashes. They said is is like 140 m diameter suspended above the ground with water below for mermaids and others to dance in as well. It's somewhat similar to the millennium dome structure. Apparently is has a bit of a steampunk look or "over- engineered Victorian" as one of them said. In the very center circle is the dj platform and on each of 4 sims they will have dance balls, etc. They gave a big thanks to Boris Linden for changing one of the sims to a new server as one previously seemed to be having some odd glitches. So everything should go smoothly. Here is their promo dance video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AUYdrhoDfE
Then Jayjay spoke a bit about the next UWA challenge with the theme of "Reflections" Feb 1 through May 31. It is in recognition of the centenary of the UWA. 2012 held their first centenary recognition of their first staff being of hired and this year is of the first students studying at UWA. The art challenge has already kicked off., has a 580,000 L prize pool and the works can be 150 prim max and submitted any time now. More info can be found on the UWA web site and the contest closes on 30th of May. The machiima challenge launches on March 1, with prizes tba of about 800,000 linden but sponsors are still coming in. He projected it could rise to a million L for that contest alone. There will also be a special prize for a machinima that features one of the art works. They have a great lineup of judges from all over. Be sure to read all the rules before starting. Jayjay expressed appreciation for the sponsorships and is amazed at how many people wanted to be a part of it. Jayjay said it's been machinima that has broken the barrier for reaching out into the real world. http://uwainsl.blogspot.com/
They also talked about all the LEA events and art which I regularly blog and more specifically the LEA Arts Festival and current events. More info. can be found here: http://lindenarts.blogspot.com/
It was suggested to take the LEA tour bus and to check the calendar for all the special events. Honour spoke about some of the LEA grants. There is a current grant to get a sim for 5 months, but you have to apply by Feb 19th.
Saffia also talked about some literary places and events in SL and I was not quite quick enough to pick up on the details enough to blog that part. But they mentioned the bedtime stories, and Crap Mariner, and some locations. Soffia then also spoke about Designing Worlds and their 3 big articles for the next year, small business, and teaching how to build a home from scratch starting with a basic skybox on to adding a 2nd floor, landscaping etc, and the next part is how to make mesh, what it is, how it works and how to build and texture in mesh. See here: http://designingworlds.wordpress.com/ Vic talked more about some major events coming up and his builds. Then they they also referred to a couple of SL blogs that keep coming up: http://thetorchslguide.com/ Thetorchslguide.com and their things to do in SL of published on Mondays and Weeklyeventssl.blogspot http://webtopicture.com/thumbnail/weeklyeventssl.blogspot.comwhich is published on Tuesdays that both provide a good list of weekly events. Honour also talked about plans for SLB10 coming up and a few other thing.
And last but not least I got a shout out in the show a couple of times, lastly for blogging the latest Madpea hunt, Love Potion No. 9.. and the pic of the library.. scroll back for more details and be sure to go to the Madpea web site for tons of fun stuff, explores, hunts and contests they do and they are also having a lot of fun and following on Facebook too. http://madpeagames.com/?p=Products#Love_Potion

Patron Newness!
Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Patron/128/128/38
Patron has many new things and I popped in to have a look. The owner/creator, Eliza Wierwight, was around so I had a nice little chat with her about some of her new products. The Patron store is a delight itself just to see and visit and the new topiary and florist arrangements are so vibrant and beautiful. I talked with Eliza a little about her work as I have in the past and wanted to ask her again about something I thought I remembered her once telling me. She confirmed she does all her work by hand on a laptop and trackpad and draws with her finger, no mouse. She's only ever owned laptops and said if she used a desktop she couldn't move her working life around it. She is currently in the process of building a bonsai deck off one side of the main building and went on to say she's fine with "putting in the work to reinvent or enhance areas but at the same time won't kill off the build, as it's like coming home for most of her customers." Eliza does have many regular customers. I move around SL a lot and told her I see her works all over the grid.
I wandered around out in the gardens and yards and gallery some too. Besides all the new things in the main store she also recently released her Secret Garden Environmental artefacts kit. There are many small changes and additions all over. I took a few pictures of some of the new things and one of the main attractions is the Lakeme (topiary lady) which is named after the opera http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Qx2lMaMsl8 and Eliza's smiled and said, "... had a lofty moment while creating her". It's never boring with Eliza. Time for another visit and while there check out all the new items then don't miss her outdoor gallery which to me is like an explore in itself, her household furniture and food items, clothes, art works, landscaping and the whole area. Direct link above.

LEA6- Dr. Moreau Seaworld by Nexuno Thespian -Opening 2-8-13
Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/LEA6/114/115/23
February 2013 LEA full sim exhibit in LEA6 by Nexuno Thespian is now open and the opening party is set for tomorrow, Friday 2-8-13 at 1:30pm SLT.
This colorful, unique build has many interesting layers of various vivisection half man half sea-animal life type beings that conjure up images from "The Island of Dr. Moreau" science fiction novel by H.G. wells that I read as a child. There are at least 3 treasure boxes around that give a prize upon answering a simple question. I received a hermit crab man galop, uomo seppia violinista, and a seppia volante---all very unusual and fun. My friend Kathy and I explored for a while and we rode around on the crab men. Another friend, Bel, joined me in costume and we took pics in the firey area. There are many levels and thankfully the teleporting around is well marked and works great. There is a lot to explore and see and be sure to ride one of the large fish like creatures floating around. Happy exploring!

Love Potion No. 9-MadPea
Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Hoshi%20Island/128/128/49
I visited the MadPea Love Potion No. 9 sim and their latest hunt. They are also sponsoring a photo contest. The hunt begins, "You are about to discover the story of Phinneas Phicklephogg, a famous Alchemist and brew Love Potion No. 9.9 with him! Before you can begin with the hunt, you must find a recipe for the ingredients that you need to find. Check out the library for an important letter and start your introduction to the game." ..... and so I'm off to to find the recipe. I didn't get far before I stopped to take a fairy pic in a beautiful meadow of butterflies. There are many good photo ops here and its right next door to the MadPea Carnival I've previously blogged that is an AMAZING explore separated only by some cave tunnels that I have not figured out yet. There are only 15 grid wide places to find the hunt clues and items, and it's a great explore regardless so check it all out and maybe get the prizes in the hunt.

Oldest Man and Linden Artifacts
Oldest Man, a photo by Kara 2 on Flickr.
(My friend Bel joined me on this expedition)
I read about this "oldest man" in a blog a while back which compelled me to go for a visit and see one of the oldest Linden objects inworld. A very good review with a lot of information on this can be found on the "Pixie Rain" blog here: http://pixierainsl.blogspot.com/2012/09/the-making-of-history-sls-oldest-object.html
The oldest object on the Second Life grid is "The Man" created by Oldjohn Linden on Friday 19th, July 2002. The Man stands tall on Natoma region on "Phillip's Hill". Visit a part of SL history for yourself here:
It's said people sometimes leave objects at the base of the man, and while I was unable to rez there, each time I went there were a few different things laying around. One permanent piece of the structure base though is a jar as seen in the collage that has a note. If you click the note it gives you a notecard with some very nice photos of it and a message that reads as follows:
"It all started back in the Alpha stage of Second Life (then Linden World) when Linden Lab wanted to test a new rendering engine, how feasible a city scape would be, and other general content testing. This city was built in Natoma before any non-employee users had logged into SL and was not named but often referred to as "Linden Town" or "Linden City". The town/city contained many buildings (mostly unfurnished and low texture usage), a small park-like town square with a fountain, and roads all through it. The city also had a statue in its town square behind a "City Hall". The statue turned out of course to be "The Man" built by a content developer (oldjohn Linden) hired at the time by LL (in 2002).
The city was later deleted before Beta to make way for the new Welcome Area which got the nickname of the 'Newbie Corral' and also the various other new-resident oriented things (Avatar Central among them). However one thing survived the deletion of the city to become the only proof of its existence (besides pictures), and that thing was "The Man" statue. At this point The Man was moved slightly to the corner of Natoma and placed on a small grassy hill. The Man stood and greeted new residents from its perch off in the distance as they entered.
Natoma remained this way until the Welcome Area, along with other content, was deleted and moved. Being the crafty build it was, The Man once again escaped deletion and still stood tall above the land.
Natoma has since gone through many changes, some Linden builds disappeared and only two old builds were left from its past. These surviving builds are the Arch'D Linden Grande (from the Newbie Corral era) and The Man statue. Thus The Man stands today as the oldest original still-standing build within Second Life.
(Thanks to Andrew and Philip Linden for providing additional information.)"
It's notable the Ivory Tower of Prims is nearby.
The last green object in the 4 photo collage is a separate piece of Linden history. This strange looking green object is actually a Linden tree rezzer. I found this near a friends home on Linden protected land, but I've heard they can still occasionally be seen out and around other areas inworld as well. This particular one says it's Gov Linden owned made by Ben Linden.
