The Village Launch Weekend

The press release read,
"The Village, Second Life's newest hot spot, will be having The Official Launch on Friday April 29th at 1PM SLT. Owned by Mankind Tracer and Kalli Birman, The Village is modeled after Greenwich Village, NYC of the 1970's and will be home to some of the best couture boutiques Second Life has to offer including House of RFyre, Gizza, Paris Metro, Tres Beau, Bliss Couture, Vogue, Blacklace, Mary Jane Shoes.

The Village is also home to the new underground rock venue, "Club Graffiti". It is inspired by one of the most famous clubs in Greenwich Village, CBGB's and the area where the whole punk movement of the 1970's began. Artists such as David Bowie, The Ramones, Blondie, The Talking Heads and many others made their way through CBGB's to begin a new revolution in music.

Club Graffiti will host weekly shows by top SL musicians. Mankind Tracer, one of Second Life's most well known live performers and co-owner of The Village, will also perform every Sunday night at 9PM SLT.

The launch will be opened by the popular band The Follow at 1pm slt and will continue at 2pm slt with a performance by Mankind Tracer. It is asked that all attendees remove any attachments and scripted objects prior to arrival to help reduce lag.

The sim will open at 12:30PM SLT to allow time for guests to arrive.

I was home from work Friday and actually was able to attend the opening at Graffiti with The Follow and Mankind. They had 96 people at peak during the launch events and are now featured in SL's Destination Guide. The area is adorable with great shopping and a central fountain. I went back for the SLurl and Mankind was there so when I inquired as to who the owner is, he advised he and Kalli Birman are owners. I really like the ambiance of Graffiti with the walls lined with graffiti and posters, funky bathrooms and a large stage area with plenty of standing and casual sitting room for all. This is going to be a rocking venue, so be sure to check it out.

Tomorrow April 30 from 7-8pm SLT musican, Damian Carbenell, will perform for the grand reopening of Tink Tattoos and Fashion by Bethy Mills. The store also features a creation station to pick alternate locations for the tattoos if desired. Club IX

Monday night April 25th was the one year anniversary party celebration of Club Nine's opening April 26th a year ago. Owner, Umberto Giano, celebrated along with a huge crowd. There were many high quality name brand free gifts and amazing drawing prizes throughout the night. Dj's Bren Betts and Azu Catteneo kept the tunes and crowd pumping. The gogo dancers lined the bar for some eye candy and the crowd was having a blast. Umberto is my Best of Second Life boss and I've known him ever since he and I were in a video by machinimist Lowe Runo (over a year ago) that was a huge success as a spin off from The Guild's "Do You Want to Date My Avatar" -previously blogged here: http://karasecondlife.blogspot.com/2010/08/guilds-new-videolowe-runo-machinima.html direct link here: LoweHere. Monday & Thursday nights are the big nights for this club so since it's Thursday today I figured I'd put up these pics I took at the celebration. This is something I've been meaning to check out for a long time and tonight when I finally made it over to Idle Rogue I was only disappointed that I have not seen this before, but I know I see it will again. Idle Rogue hosts Friday night burlesque/dance shows at midnight SLT each Friday. The sets are amazing, the dances fluid and the costumes very impressive. Check it out some time.

Meeroos are Coming!

At long last the Meeroos will be group released open beta this Friday with pre-orders available. Check out their blog site if further interested. A friend had the initial closed beta group and I instantly fell in love enough to know I need to have one as a pet when available so I joined the group inworld to be able to get the betas this Friday. They make the most adorable sounds and are unique breedables in that there are games and other things associated with them.

Darkmoon slurl.com/secondlife/Dark%20Moon/181/159/21 Another amazing place to explore. I wanted to show as much of the sim as possible.. but didn't get all the cool stuff in a shot to do it justice. There are hidden places and pose balls and the landing spot sign provides a helpful notecard. The ground is way more beautiful than this shows, but I had to focus lights on the sky or ground so went with the sky for this shot because of the weird floating plant island thingys. Check this place out.


Roan, owned by my Flickr friend Wildangel, is updated with upper garden type areas and lower water and underwater areas to enjoy. This sim is gorgeous with tons of poses, dances, and things to see and do. Check it out here: ROAN (36, 96, 21)

2011 SL Fantasy Faire-Benefitting Relay For Life
