FlyGearZ and Whymsee

Visit FlyGearZ here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Endless%20Magic/184/188/3474

FlyGearZ

I received some group notice of a FlyGearZ dance duel of the huds event, so curiosity got the better of me and I popped over. I was pleasantly surprised to find a HUGE steampunk airship, Alice, filled with a bunch of ppl, mostly decked out in steampunk gear, on the cog dance spots.  After instructions and introductions we danced with the dance leaders Ki, Kiran Sporg and Jenna Dirval who led from the front stage.  The location was the FlyGearZ steampunk airship complete with many moving giant cogs and clock tower.  The event was the duel of the dance huds with full audience participation.  I grabbed some pics to show here, then cammed a little to also get a shot of WhymseeDancer Metaharper the dance bot that caches dances.  The sim is home to Whymsee and FlyGearz events and apparently various other explore areas to cuddle, play and experience according to the sim info.

The group states:
"FlyGearZ: What is FlyGearz? First and foremost, we are a group of like minded, carefree dance oriented, party peeps! What kinda of party peeps, you ask? Think of your self as a passenger on board the magical Danceship "Alice" where your in-flight entertainment is YOU; dancing like crazy! We promise the crew will take good care of you! As with any flight, seating is limited to 50 or so  prime "seats.""

Jenna gave me a some extra info. when I asked such as
-- the Facebook Whymsee link here: https://www.facebook.com/WhymseeSL/ and FlyGearZ here: https://www.facebook.com/FlyGearzEntertainment/
-- frequency of events: Whymsee 3 weeks out of the momth  and FlyGearZ 1 time a month.
--owner name: Cordie, Cordelia.cerise whose been doing this for years, although Jenna more recently has been helping with PR and Whymsee and FlyGearZ  and FlyGearZ duel of the dance huds
-- and more of the event info. like the Whymsee theme and set is different every week with a big show once a month with big show set changes but the FlyGearZ stays steampunk and the airship stays in the air all the time.

NeoVictoria 2nd Anniversary Party

Congratulations to the NeoVictoria sim.  Their 2nd anniversary party was a fun hat themed OOC party, but it's usually a Steampunk based & machinima supported area.  I had a good time dancing and hanging out with some old friends and of course I took a few photos.

Wretched Dollies and Awesome Builds

Visit http://slurl.com/secondlife/Asunder/230/36/73 or direct link here: UlyssesHere.

While out shopping and exploring SL today with my friend Belinda Barnes I ran into an exceptional builder than I felt warrants a blog post here. I popped in to the Asunder sim to check out a product for sale and while at the Wretched Dollies store at Asunder, LeBoheme I was lucky to run into the builder Ulysses Cabaret. I was impressed with the various things in the store and told him so, and he offered to show me his new build that just went on sale called the Tower of Hades. My friend Bel and I were both very impressed with this huge gothic type build with secret doors, dungeon, etc., and some of the most amazing textures. The size alone was impressive and the tall towers were covered in spires and seemed to reach the sky. Ulysses is a builder of victorian, gothic vampire, and steampunk type buildings and various articles and textures. You can see his work at LeBoheme - Asunder 174, 57, 63 and at other shops at The Hollow and Nighty's Twisted Thorn. He was very friendly and helpful and even provided me with photos for this blog when I asked about blogging. I don't often blog a product but this seems much more than that. It really is a work of art, as were the things I looked at in his store. Check it out some time.

(Kara, Ulysses, Bel)

He is also well known for the Twisted Fun House, but as I said his textures are astounding and he has a whole lot of fun things in his shop.

Mysterious Disappearing Brigadoon Village and Caledon Steampunk Sim

Visit here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Caledon%20Brigadoon/128/128/23 or direct link here: BrigadoonVillageHere.
Brigadoon Village
Brigadoon Village.. After it Faded
(Village area after fade)

2:12 pm my time (12:12pmSLT) July 4TH I stood in Brigadoon Village and watched it fade quickly away in whipsy puffs of fog right before my eyes! The entire little village gone with a fade, not a poof. Geoffrey Xeonbuilder was there with a man body and clothes but bird head.. and when I asked he explained this is Brigadoon Village. It is only visible for a few hours each month and follows the book/movie story. I asked how to find it again and he said it's best to pay attention to the time it appeared and faded. I don't know when it appeared as I had only been there maybe ten minutes, but I certainly know when it faded. Only the grassy park with deer, snakes and badgers and trees remains nestled in a small mountain surrounded circular area with a tiny bridge crossing the small river that runs along one side in an area in the otherwise busy Caledon Brigadoon steampunk sim. There were a few other avatars, along with myself and one visitor exclaimed about the village disappearing and how they missed their photo op. What I did see before it faded was a small village with houses, surrounding a pillar with a rabbit sculpture atop. I was lucky enough to capture a few photos.

Of course I needed more history on this mysterious village and went to Wiki which states, "Brigadoon is a musical with a book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. Songs from the musical, such as "Almost Like Being in Love" have become standards.
It tells the story of a mysterious Scottish village that appears for only one day every hundred years, though to the villagers, the passing of each century seems no longer than one night. The enchantment is viewed by them as a blessing rather than a curse, for it saved the village from destruction. According to their covenant with God, no one from Brigadoon may ever leave, or the enchantment will be broken and the site and all its inhabitants will disappear into the mist forever. Two American tourists, lost in the Scottish Highlands, stumble upon the village just as a wedding is about to be celebrated, and their arrival has serious implications for the village's inhabitants.
The original production opened on Broadway in 1947 and ran for 581 performances. Brigadoon then received a West End production opening in 1949 that ran for 685 performances, and many revivals followed. A 1954 film version starred Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse. A 1966 television version starred Robert Goulet and Peter Falk." Wiki here: See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brigadoon

Caledon Oxbridge is a pleasure in itself and well worth a visit with or without the mysterious village present. It is home to the independent state of Caledon's Community Gateway University of Caledon Oxbridge, which also hosts a fencing team in this Victorian micronation with steampunk elements. Near the disappearing village I found the adorable Hummingbird ballroom, a glass window enclosed build that has many adorable dances, some of which I've not seen before in SL. Ravelli Ormstein, a small bear of an avatar and a University professor at Oxbridge University in Caledon, provided me with some history/notecards upon my request about the sim. He said he's been a resident for 2 years. He said Caledon Oxbridge University is usually the heart of Caledon and a good place to start. Desmond Shang is mayor account. Ravelli also spoke of the Hall of Caledon that provides a lot of info about this micro nation and he offered this web page of additional information. http://www.steamlander.com/forums/ and the steampunk Wiki: http://www.steampunkwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page
Caledon Brigadoon
The history note card provides additional information stating Caledon is a 19th centruy Steampunk Victorian micronation existing within Agni, or the Main grid. The terrain is mostly towns, forests, mountain ranges and countryside mostly interconnected by rail, carriage and airship and houses houndreds upon hundreds of active residents. There is a Royal Caledon Air Force, libraries, and Oxbridge. Residents of the area are members or citizens of the group "Independent State of Caldeon" and it is a invitation-only group, but membership is not difficult to obtain by asking a citizen who can get you in with no requirements.

Here is a direct link to the Oxbridge University too: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Caledon%20Oxbridge/251/131/22 direct link here: OxbridgeUniversityHere. Besides the university I was told some of the other special special sim sites and activities include: the sandbox, welcome center, Magellan Templemore, Fencing, Chess Park, Victoria City, hospital, blue Mermaid, Falling Anvil, Gaiety Theater, Pub Dodo Redux, World's End, numerous art galleries, libraries and museums, including an H.G. Wells Memorial Branch Library, various areas of site seeing such as the Airbase "Iron Cloud", Blimps, Mines, Graveyard, Royal Society for Natural Sciences, Rail Station, etc, a great number of intriguing shops and many many other places, events and sites to behold. I was very impressed with this large area and I will definitely return for hours of adventure. Don't miss out.

NeoVictoria

Asil Ares, Sim Owner and Creator

A few nights ago I visited a new sim called NeoVictoria, by owner and creator, Asil Ares, who is also know for her support of machinimatography. There is a website for this sim that you can visit here: NeoVictoriaWebsiteHere.

Asil gave us a tour of the role play and machinima areas. Our group consisted of Asil, myself, and friends and machinimatographers, Lowe Runo and Sonicity Fitzroy of MAG, PROMAG, and Lowe Runo Productions, LLC. We quickly changed into steampunk type clothes and off we went for a nice tour of this very large impressive area. The roleplay setting is a futuristic steampunk area with the character archetypes of the Community Combat System (CCS). NeoVictoria is already recently open, but there is a grand opening being planned for the near future.

NeoVictoria includes a skymall full of steampunk, Victorian and Gothic fashions, accessories, machinima tools and weapons. There was a large practice area and 7 seas. We toured the park, part of the interesting sewer system, maze, and nice machinima areas including settings and information designed to assist and provide for the ultimate machinima filming. I cammed out to see some interesting sites such as a steampunk skyship and other land areas we didnt quite make it to, as there is a lot to see and do. 3 of the 7 rental properties are already rented, but if interested hurry on over. The area is a role play area, not designed to be a build or script zone. Asil provided the rules which do state a request to film needs to be made, but still photos are readily allowed, so I took a few quick shots on our tour.

Lowe and I try out one of the machinima friendly areas.

Asil states it best herself in her website information about why she bought two sims for NeoVictoria. She says, "...it was only a matter of time before I learned I needed the technical control of a full SIM to shoot machinima the way I wanted to make it. And then, the desire to expand that vision into a community began to take hold. I love the possibility of a community whose roleplay isn’t lost once the scene is over. I don’t desire NeoVictoria to be SIM-chain with hundreds of players and dozens of factions, but rather, a small community of gifted artists who work together to bring their stories out of SecondLife and into the world of the real...
There are two SIMs (or regions) in the NeoVictoria estate: Machinima and NeoVictoria. NeoVictoria is our main SIM; here the great Strato Moblis giant airship watches over the town of NeoLondon. The land-level of NeoVictoria will have no rental properties, it purports to be a living city, with a market, church, municipal buildings and role-play shops, as well has an extensive underground. Look for fun stuff and special events to celebrate the opening of the main SIM."
