Leonard Cohen, Rest in Peace

 It was announced Thursday October 10, 2016 well known Canadian poet, singer, songwriter, and novelist Leonard Cohen passed away.  He actually passed away November 7th but his death wasn't announced until the 10th.  The cause of death hasn't been released yet.  He recently declared he was ready to die, then exclaimed himself as over dramatic and said he planned on living forever which he will indeed do through the legacy of his music and many works.  His SL namesake club, The Leonard Cohen Club, seems pretty busy and I'm sure many fans are paying their respects.

He's released 26 albums beginning in 1967 and the most recent, Berlin DJ Paul Kalkbrenner’s remix of Leonard Cohen’s new single “You Want It Darker” premiered Oct 7 2016. 

Leonard Cohen is well known for his long deep rich voice, many music and other awards won, and the "Hallelujah" song sung by many. 

Second Life has over time honored Leonard Cohen in various ways. The two biggest shows of affection I can recall are through the current Leonard Cohen Club and then in 2012 there was a art exhibit where all the artists involved did an image depicting a Leonard Cohen song. I'd like to thank my readers and those who nominated me as I'm up for voting in the fav blogger and fav blog categories.  I'm very honored to be part of the group and fully realize as the site states this is not necessarily for the best but rather to honor and show appreciation to the nominees by voting .  I started my blog long ago for my own enjoyment, sort of to document my SL travels and share with others and it's just continued as a hobby. I do enjoy promoting places, things, and friends I appreciate in SL.  I am so thankful for all those who make my SL more enjoyable.  SL is made by the people for the people and blogging is a small way I can be a part of sharing and contributing.  I am very honored to be a part of the nominees and fully recognize this blog is somewhat of a mess compared to many but it's mine and I'll own this mess too.  It is what it is and I enjoy it and hope others do too from time to time.   Thank you so much for getting me on the list of great company. Please vote weather for me or someone else, it's a feel good way to enjoy and show appreciation to some of those who have contributed to SL for the betterment of it all.

I am certainly not comparing the Avi Choice Awards and voting in the American presidential election as far as importance, but there are a few things going on with each that are interesting to watch.  namely the controversy.  With the Avi Choice Awards it's simply a way to have fun and show some appreciation to some of the people who have a hand in making the SL world go round weather that's through sim design, clothes or product design and production, providing entertainment through live music, art, blogging, management or advertisement, etc. There have been some who opt out for a variety of reason or some complain it's a popularity contest or doesn't include some of the best options.  Well that may be true. But so what? Have fun and enjoy it.  With the US presidential elections anyone alive with a TV or Internet has to have noticed there is huge controversy and polarization between those supporting each of the candidates and how the whole process is run,  and many who are not happy with either option.  Candidates get in for a variety of reasons which are not always how everyone would prefer or feels is fair.  Are there others out there who would be better?  More than likely.  But this is what we have, so I'd encourage everyone to vote.  The Avi Choice Awards is for fun while the RL presidential elections are very very important to not only Americans but really it's of worldwide importance who is elected top leader of the United States.  In the end if you don't vote you've really no reason to complain who wins later and not voting is sort of like an extra vote for the one you least prefer to win.  Have fun with the Avi Choice awards and educate yourselves before voting in the US presidential elections please.  This year one must review various medias not just main stream news to become adequately educated to vote intelligently.   May the odds be ever in your favor, may the force be with you, may the best man or woman win, etc etc and all that.  Happy voting, and if not, well, there's always SL to relax in. 

Best of luck to all the Avi Choice awards nominees and as for the US presidential elections at this point I'd just say, become informed and vote.  

Dark Hive Underground Club

I found this cool industrial club and while they had a great event yesterday, sadly I missed it.  But I still wanted to blog the place as it has a awesome atmosphere.  I showed up very early this morning so few people were around but it made for a good opportunity to take some pics for the blog w/out distraction.  I used to blog clubs quite a bit when I found new or cool ones I liked and this is the first time I've visited The Dark Hive and it fits that category of cool clubs so wanted to document it here, for you the readers and for myself and future visits.

Talu told me, : The club has been in SL "1 year, owner is Razor who built the club from scratch. Club have risen in popuarity fast due to nice design, friendly folk, no shops and low lag."

Happy Halloween!

SAMHAIN-Bullring House of Horrors Experience Opens October 23rd

This sim officially opens October 23rd  2pm SLT but has been open while in the works for a little bit  and is already on the destination guide under haunted houses so people are free to start exploring.  SAMHAIN-Bullring House of Horrors Experience runs from Oct 23-Nov 13th.  For more information visit their official web site here: http://www.bullringfamily.com
At the landing you can grab a hud or explore on your own. The BRM Entertainment group is putting it on and Sim Design, concept and everything is all the groups. The Trisks were on hand and they can answer questions if help is needed navigating the sim.  You don't want to miss anything.  They are the designated sim helpers. There are a few notices at landing about suggested lighting, how the experience works,  etc.

Many of us traditionally think of Samhain as the festival of the dead, summer's end and celebration of the end of harvest and the start of the cold half of the year or winter.  It's also known as the beginning of the spiritual new year and often celebrated on Halloween / October 31st. This sim does seem to fit this idea only in a much darker way. I took a few pictures but since it was so late I didn't make it all the way through and look forward to exploring the rest of it.  What I did see was VERY cool.

Be sure to turn up your sounds and click on things.  This is my kind of explore.. very interactive and highly detailed. Some other visitors passed me a flashlight which helped with picture taking and so I wouldn't get so lost.  Be forewarned, there are dangers. There are freebies and prizes. I took  a million pictures.  More can be seen on my Flickr and I took even more in my computer but it was an embarrassingly large number of pics so didn't post them all. The pumpkin patch is really cool.  If you get stuck just forge ahead or ask a Trisk for help.  There are hidden places. The graveyard is fantastic and the main haunted house is very cool with unique effects I haven't seen in SL before. It was super creepy, scary even for real, and I got lost but that was ok as when I went around I saw things I'd missed before. The haunted house is hands down my fav this year! This is a must see sim.
