Happy 10th Rez Day Divi!

My good long time friend, Dividni Shostakovich, is not in SL much lately, as he's taking a little more RL time, but came in for his rez day party friends Isabelle Mavendorf and Emma Portilo and I threw for him.  And by me, I mean I put up some old pics and vids, but Emma decorated and Izzy provided the venue, DJ'd, and choreographed a little song and dance for the old Divi's Diva's to do a little dance to. She also made Diva matching jackets for us.  I neglected to even get pics of the show but I did get pics of the dancing/party time and then later things took a ~cough~ "odd" turn for a rez day party/  And the dance pole came out.. par for the course when these old friends get together. It was a nice group and many of the old Split Screen Art Installation Space patrons and good friends of Divi came out to join in the fun.  Of course I took pics... Happy 10th, my good friend Divi!

Dissected Soul by Theda Tammas at Split Screen LEA15

Visit  Dissected Soul by Theda Tammas at Split Screen LEA15 Here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/LEA15/128/128/2

The sim notecard  reads: ""...I don’t know how many souls I have, I’ve changed at every moment, I always feel like a stranger.I’ve never seen or found myself..." -- Fernando Pessoa"

This is a cool build with sculptures that are somewhat shredded by the barbed wires of life or so it seems.  I think it's about identity issues but go and figure it out for yourself as it's fun to look at this large immersive build of figures wound in red lines/barely holding things together or maybe tangling things up.  Some figures are walking the fine line or are connected by just a bit of the red thread or maybe its a red string of  a heart piece that connects them or holds them keeping them from totally getting lost.  There is what my be a totally fractured heart in the middle and there is a figure holding up a mask .. seems to wont for more discussion of trials and tribulations one may encounter in life that tears them almost to pieces.  They may be healing and resealing, time and again changing in different ways or in how they present themselves as they try to discover themselves following a hardship.  But, really I don't know what it means so it's best just to go and see it because it's looks cool and is thought provoking. I have no clue what I just said but it seemed to make sense in my mind when I wrote it.... go check it out.  It looks interesting.... and I'm sure means something cool too.  Ask Divi . .he'll know ; )

Split Screen at LEA15 For Everywhere Nowhere and The Games We Play

Visit Split Screen at LEA15 here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/LEA15/138/129/551

My friend Dividni Shostakovich hosts LEA15 this round and currently has two exhibits there to enjoy through the end of the month.  There is The Games we Play which is like a giant room of chess pieces that are much larger than life size by Krystali Rabeni.  On anther several levels there is Everywhere Nowhere by Jade Yu Fhang. Be sure you click around as you can pose and animate in some place.  I took a few pics of course.

Flash back/flash forward, by Giovanna Cerise at Split Screen Art Installation Space

Visit Flash back/flash forward, by Giovanna cerise at Split Screen Installation Space here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Coppelia/128/128/23

(note the new LM for Split Screen)

Giovanna writes of this installation... in part: "The tendency to emphasize and almost exacerbate the instability and impermanence of the perception of what has passed and of what is not yet is the leitmotif of "Flash Back / Flash Forward."  and more....." Inside there are spaces that vanish in the complex but, depending on the angle, they are perfectly visible. I gave them names:
The dream
The point of view
The desire
The lightness
The bird
The impossible choice"
Upon landing accept the note card with much more detailed information.
This is a cool immersive build.  I took a few pics as usual.. fun exhibit.  Check it out! Open through July 31st.

Haveit Neox's "Bleeding Books"

Visit Bleeding Books by Haveit Neox at Split Screen Installation Space here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Amra/51/129/130

I visited the opening party at Split Screen for this large immersive build by Haveit a while back and took a few pics at the party to share here. For more info. check out SS owner/curator Dividni Shostakovich's blog here: https://dividni.blogspot.com/2017/03/haveit-neox-bleeding-books.html

Be sure to visit all 3 sky platform areas and the ground level fortress where you will see books bleeding letters, a sort of cages/prison area, fortress ruins, etc.

Haveit's exhibit info.states: "“It is a story in my ongoing series on abuse as seen through the lens of language,” Haveit says of the piece. “What happens when knowledge is so disrespected that it is freely contaminated with doses of falsehood? There are avenues to properly sort facts in this information age, yet we easily turn a blind eye to certain evidence if it goes counter to our beliefs – even when our choices may cause immeasurable harm.”

"‘Bleeding Books’ begins in the sky, and drops to the large fortress at ground level. It is a story in my ongoing series on abuse as seen through the lens of language. What happens when knowledge is so disrespected that it is freely contaminated with doses of falsehood? There are avenues to properly sort facts in this information age, yet we easily turn a blind eye to certain evidence if it goes counter to our beliefs – even when our choices may cause immeasurable harm. In the exhibit, the texts of books bleed falling letters of the alphabet, for they can no longer contain any structure of value’."

This exhibit will be open through the end of April, but keep an eye on this art space as more new things are always in the works.

"from here on there be dragons", by alpha Auer at Split Screen Installation Space

Visit Split Screen Installation Space, "from here on there be dragons" by Alpha Auer here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Amra/16/236/22

This exhibit runs November 20th, 2016 through January 31, 2017

Split Screen owner and curator, Dividni Shostakovich, writes about this exhibit: "In a faintly futuristic building, golden dragons roam. Some are Chinese, others are European.  Their reflections shimmer beneath them. And on the floor these imaginary beasts walk upon are images from an old map. Come see "from here on there be dragons" by Alpha Auer, one of the most distinctive artists in Second Life. At Split Screen Installation Space until 31 January 2017."

That pretty well sums it up, although Alpha has a nice note card at the landing about her exhibit and I'll quote but a small excerpt here: "When Medieval and Renaissance map makers got to the edge of the world, they used to write "beyond this place there be dragons," meaning dangerous or unexplored territories that sailors should beware of before attempting to cross into them."

The surrounding build is done in recognizable Alpha style, colors, and reflections.  The golden dragons are detailed creatures congregating about the interior of the structure. Some are holding large pearls or balls and almost seem to be playing a game or greeting one another, although seem to be of various breeds or styles.   There is also a cool free avatar/costume by Alpha at the landing so be sure to grab that too on your way in or out. As always, Split Screen hosts talented artist and Alpha has done a great job here. I mostly used the designated sim windlights for the below pics but as you can see I changed it up once and the first small pic I didn't take, as that's the official sim ad..

The Pillars: Four moments of Contemplation by Oberon Onmura at Split Screen

Visit Split Screen here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Amra/128/128/22

The Pillars: Four Moments of Contemplation by Oberon Onmura - @ Split Screen Art Installation Space

Per Oberon's Note regarding this exhibit: "This work is an installation which embodies terraforming, complex scripted objects, and bots. A "forest" of vertical mounds is inhabited by four avatars, each enclosed in a unique soundscape and constrained to a single animation. A plain white chair beside each avatar invites the viewer to sit and contemplate each small scene.
It looks best with shadows and water reflections enabled.
Oberon"

So the scene is these fog-topped large pillar like structures born up from the ground, standing in a water base that per windlight settings seems to have it's own moving design or texture.  There are birdlike objects flying overhead in a peach colored sky. There are occasional flashes or flickers of light or perhaps a slight shift in paradigm from time to time.  There are 4 bots, GuyMinion, IIlyaMinion. DanaMinion, and HanMinion each on their own small platform a portion of the way up the side of one of the pillars next to a chair visitors can sit on and contemplate while listening to the unusual sounds in the area.  Each apparently asexual nude red bot has a different repetitive movement, one writhing on the ground. another spinning with arms extended, another bent in anguish or possibly submission, etc. that left me me contemplating things most likely not intended by the artist.  Go check it out for yourself. The exhibit runs now through October.  Quite interesting.

The Path, by Cherry Manga at Split Screen Installation Space

Visit here:   http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Amra/100/40/23

I've been super busy First Life for a week or two but before I left I took some pics at Split Screen Installation Space owned by Dividini Shoshtakovich where Cherry Manga has her recent exhibit, The Path.  I'm back now and posting them up here.  At the landing you can pick up a free "The Path" art piece and a free "Light of Light" avatar to wear into the immersive exhibit.  The space is very spacy with a constellation night sky looking area where you can jump on pose spots and become one with the space/time travel idea.  Cherry always has great exhibits but she's not exhibited in SL for a while now so it's great to see her back again.  Be sure to check this exhibit out and keep your Split Screen landmark as Divi consistently provides quality large immersive art projects there.

Split Screen, The Path-Cherry Manga

The sim note reads:
""Creativity is contagious. Pass it on." Albert Einstein
The path is a small installation based on Fest'Avi 2016 project.
The idea is to show visitors the spirit of the concept developed in FrancoGrid, with this moving line representing the path of life, the inner travel that we all go through during our life.
It is far from revealing the opensim project , if you like what you see here, you will love what is in Fest'Avi 2016 on FrancoGrid.
You are invited to discover Fest'Avi on FrancoGrid, opening in 7th of September.
Fest'Avi started in 2014, each year, participants offer their creations, full permissions avatars, that are freely given through the metaverse.
Fest'Avi 2016 will be displayed on a var region (3x3 classic sims) without prim size limitation, with NPC avatars everywhere. It is a huge installation, where visitors are invited to discover the path with selected camera positions, the music is composed for each scene, it's an immersive travel with a full scenography.
Participating in Fest'Avi is like saying that the big Metaverse under OpenSimulator is different: the common goods and the sharing are the essential components of this spacetime. Fest'Avi reinforces our spirit for sharing cared objects, inspired, attractive and aesthetic."

CHRONOPHOBIA by Rebeca Bashly Now at Split Screen Installation Space

Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Beleza/128/128/0

Rebeca Bashly has a new exhibit at Split Screen Installation Space called Chronophobia which is now open.  Ok, I'll admit I wiki'd Chronophobia and found it to be defined as the fear of time.  Chronophobia is especially common in prison inmates and the elderly, but it can manifest in any person who has an extreme amount of stress and anxiety in their life.

At first I thought that's an odd thing to be afraid of, but there were further thoughts expressed about it such as “an experience of unease and anxiety about time, a feeling that events are moving too fast and are thus hard to make sense of" which can be caused by a traumatic childhood experience, genetics, incarceration, or old age.  Ok, I guess I can get that.  Actually sometimes in SL I verge on this anxiety when there are a bunch of cool events and things to see and do all at the same time and I know I can't do them all. Or maybe when I think about the time spent online when maybe I should be spending that time on more real life and thinking maybe something important is passing me by while I'm online?  Ok, I digress, and anyway that's a stretch but about as close as I can personally come.  I suppose the exhibit got me thinking, and that's something art is good for.

Anyway .. this exhibit by Rebeca incorporates skeletons of a couple, some dinosaur looking animal with outstretched wings/arms and the chest cavity of something large and animal-like, of I'm not sure what, as you can see in the pictures below each atop a sort of sundial sky platform that is ever changing and seemingly trickling away or falling apart in chunky pieces dropping down like sands in an hourglass. I guess that depicts time slipping away leaving the remains of the lovers and other figures in the form of just their skeletons?

I need to ask Rebeca or Dividini Shostakvich, owner/curator of Split screen for sure what it all means.  I noted Rebeca has another exhibit coming soon which is great to hear because I always love her exhibits and haven't seen any around for a while until now.  Check this one out for yourself over at Split Screen. In the mean time I need to go back and find Rebeca to find out what this is really all about.  Oh, and while you are there be sure to check out Jo Ellsmere's cool Biomechanical bots before that exhibit closes Feb. 29th.  Previously blogged here: http://karasecondlife.blogspot.com/2016/01/the-bots-are-back-at-split-screen-art_16.html

**Addendum: Ok, Divi blogged it with a better explanation here: http://dividni.blogspot.com/2016/02/rebeca-bashlys-chronophobia-at-reopened.html
Also I've since learned the winged dinosaur looking animal is actually Pegasus.  And be sure to note the skeletal infant inside the female skeleton.  So I wasn't too off base with the overall theme.
