The Avi Choice Awards 2016

Today I attended the Avi Choice awards 2016 final including lifetime awards.  I was honored and please to be a nominee for blogging and am glad to see kudos going out to some of the people who help make this SL go round.  I always appreciate those who help make my SL more enjoyable in a variety of ways through their hard work.

There were a lot of high profile attendees and performers including AleyKat, Luciano Lionheart  (they sang separately and in a touching duet at the end) Savannah Rain, and Christopher Quan. I enjoyed seeing and hearing Persia Bravin announce the fashion section along with other announcers.

I sat with friends Kathy Nikolaidis and Cash Benelli.  Kathy and I posed it up for the paparazzi prior to the show.  There were approx. 80 people on the sims in attendance and another 50 in the next associated viewer sim, so it was a little hard for some to stay stable, but I was able to get some decent photos though. I really enjoyed the shows and pretty sets.

The Avi Choice official web sites will list the winners so I'll direct you there for the nominees and winner lists.  They said they had over 8,000 hits on their web site this year, 98 categories and about a quarter of a million votes,  You can find it, the winners, and other info. here: https://avichoiceawards.com/

At the end of the show they said they have a policy of never saying the best, but rather, the favorite based on the votes, but they broke that when they announced the best producer and director for the Avi Choice awards which went to Nikki Matheson.  Then 3 hours later we were joined by the listening sim attendees in the lobby for the after party with dancing and music and grabbing our swag bags full of free goodies.

December 1st brought in the most recent Spilt Screen installation. Be sure to be on the latest LL viewer, Firestorm, or some other mesh enabled viewer to see as intended.
Split Screen

Last night I ran over to Split Screen to chat with Dividni Shostakovich, the curator/owner who gave me a sneek peek, and I fist stepped into Artistide Despres', "Let These Facts Be Known". I was like, "Divi, what is this, some kind of political statement or something?" I think he blandly said, "Something like, yes". He's really pretty patient with me. Well no doubt about it after I completely rezzed it on my newly installed "Firestorm Viewer". I heard shouts of a peaceful protest, police riots, all kids of protesting in fact. And the words around the picketer sculpt were clearly a statement about government. My photos can't do it justice, as the buildings around this are very cool as well and just need to be experienced. This is an awesome build that really should be visited and Divi blogged it saying, " The title is taken from the Declaration of the Occupation of New York City, which presents a list of 23 realities of political and economic life in the US and often paralleled elsewhere, ranging from the foreclosure crisis to bailouts to the commodification of privacy to torture and more." He provides a great description of both builds in Split Screen actually so check out his blog too: http://dividni.blogspot.com/2011/11/happy-anniversary-with-artistide.html or direct link here: DiviHere.
Split Screen
After I absorbed the impressive and somewhat inciting exhibit of Artee who has been building since 2007 at New Caerleon, I hopped over to the "Other Side" to see Eupalinos Ugajin's "grace au Soleil" which means what?, "From the Sun".. I guess. I dropped down the entrance hole into a huge surreal sort of playground. There is a lot to see and do in this immersive installation. Enable media for this build. The note card says in part.. 1. A "Table des Captures"
2. "A very expensive machine by which Humanity tries to export Life before it destroys the Planet"
3. I needed a door…
and just behind a
4. "Window wondering where to land"
5. Random images in camera's chamber. Are you the source or one element of the final image?
6. Zoetrope: what will the dancer inside empty or fill tonight? Or maybe those walls are the ones who invent her mouvements ?
7. Will you find the mattress of your dreams flying around with the help of this helmet ?
8. I was told it is on the way to find an "invisible island" but what happened to the passengers ?
9. You just sat on one cube and you are now a Landscape Architect for a few seconds. Are you precise enough to bomb the 1% claiming "This is MY GRASS" below you ?"... and more
In other words it's a playground, ride around, click, check things out and enjoy.
Also check out Eupa's "Some Day My Cow Will Come" at Twofish.

These two latest Split Screen exhibits will run through December 31st at which time other artists will begin building their exhibits. Contact Divi in-world if interested in exhibiting.

Explore Second Life, Izzies, MetaLES, Solandria, & Nordan Art

I've hit up a few new good explores lately thanks to my friend Cafi Rang turning me on to some additional SL blogs to follow.
**************************************************
Visit Izzie's here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Izzies/128/121/31 or direct link here: IzziesHere.

The first explore is actually a shopping place too. Izzie Button has this adorable sim that is just absolutely beautiful with fall colors and makes for wonderful photos. I explored the outdoors for a long time before I ventured into her store and was equally impressed and surprised I had not come upon this store before as it is great! Izzie has quality clothes, skins, accessories, poses, discount area and amazing customer service when I just IM'd her to ask her a few questions. She said her store's been around a couple of years but new to this location since about June. I told her how much I like her products, as they seem to real and fit well. The sweater and necklace I am wearing in this one pic are from her store. Don't miss this whether you just like a great explore or shopping.. well worth the trip.

This next explore is "Aerie" in MetaLES by Cherry Manga, an exceptional SL artist I can't seem to keep up with. She keeps making and doing so much that impresses me. This is a creative sim to explore.

Visit Solandria here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Overland%20Hills/54/139/33 or direct link here: SolandriaHere.
Solandria
Solandria is a gorgeous sim for dance, meditation, photos, cuddles, posing, fairies, etc. The sim owner Soleil8 Andel said he has been working on the sim since June and already has a youtube video of the place and facebook group. It is filled with lots of beautiful flowers and scenery, straylights, garden and forest areas as well as beach areas. This might be considered a great date place.

Visit Nordan Art Gallery Here:http://slurl.com/secondlife/Nordan%20om%20Jorden/138/51/2502 or direct link here: NordanHere.

Nordan
This last explore is actually Nordan Art Gallery I've blogged before but I wanted to add this as Rebeca Bashly who has "Inferno" at LEA (a few posts back I show a video and pics I made) put up a sort of Haunted area at Nordan that will only be up through October 31st, so don't miss it. While there check out the gallery and current artist exhibits on the ground level as well. Nordan always has impressive exhibits.
