Mad World, MadPea and a Great Video, The Drax Files: World Makers [Episode 47: Mad World]

Visit Mad World here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/MadPea%20Base/128/128/32

Mad Pea continues to offer some great games, explores, fantastic builds, and prizes. Draxtor does a great job documenting some of this and interviewing Kiana Writer.  Both well worth further exploring.

I visited Mad World, and as the video says, there is a lot to see and do in Mad World.  I took a few pics as usual and won't say so much even though there is SO much I love, because the video explains some of it very well and you should really just visit and see for yourself! I will mention there are multiple escape rooms, rides, a kitty litter game and so so much more in this huge well designed area. Peatonville Asylum by MadPea runs Oct 8 through Nov. 30.

MadPea Peatonville So today I grabbed one of the few remaining early entry keys to Peatonville Asylum because this looks like a lot of fun. I will miss some of the initial pomp and circumstance afforded the early entry group and apparently some initial information that may be helpful to me but at least I'll get in that evening after work for some lag free and early entry pics and head start.   They already have the sim open for a photo contest that runs now through opening Oct 8th.

Origami, Opens Today!

Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Heiankyo/128/128/17

Visit the official web site here: http://origamiivent.blogspot.jp/

Origami
Origami, an event of Japanese culture and clothing opened today! Basically this is shopping, a very cool game, and some awesome looking sim landscaping all in one place in Japanese style.

Origami opened today for their summer shopping event and the game portion opens 7-10-15 after a slight delay. I ran over and made a direct link for my blog with a landing about in the middle of the two sections so if you go today cross the small water flow into the shopping area or if you wait for the game to open on the 19th you will be in the general area.

The shopping today is great and well decorated.   I have my cute little inexpensive lantern with me that I purchased at the event.  They have many novelty items like this, some great clothes, and a wide variety of other items with a lot of gachas too.  I'm looking forward to the game portion Friday.  Check it out.

UNIA by MadPea Now Open!

Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/MadPea%20Base/128/128/23
Here is how to play: http://www.madpeagames.com/how-to-play-unia/

The long awaited UNIA by Madpea opened today, well yesterday, but it was today when I started.  Yes, it's addicting.  Yes, it's challenging.  Yes, it's filled with great scenery, animations, mystery, special fx and builds/parts by great artists like Bryn Oh and Rebeca Bashly etc. as promised.  I've been at it a few hours now and I've just figured out it's going to be a few more.. another day, because I have to get some sleep then work too.

As usual you buy a hud (3 hud/startup levels to chose from) and tp into the the "game" if you want to call it that.  From there you have to just be like a curious explorer clicking everything, remembering clues, picking up objects, eventually fighting things if you want to, and basically trying to figure things out. I would highly recommend checking out the "how to play" link above before forging ahead.  It will save you time and frustration in the long run.

TWICE I got sorta got stuck and staff in the group told me I was actually in almost "end places" that were close to the end and I had managed to miss some things/places that would successfully get me to  those spots in the correct order in which to advance successfully.  So besides being killed repeatedly and sort of having to kind of start over I was doing ok.  And lets just say you don't want to be sent to the empty barn. It's like a time out and you've basically been killed.  But lucky us, we get to just go right back in with all our accumulated stuff after our time out.

So my hud is full of tools/things I'll need to continue on.  I have an idea of what I need to do yet and where to go to do it, and I have a great start.   Just before I felt I needed to quit for the night/morning, I ran into an old friend Sugar Silverstar who was back for her new day to continue playing.  She summed up how I feel about it when she said, "Sugar Silverstar: god  I love it.  I'm torn between wanting to solve it and not wanting it to finish."  And when I asked, she said I could quote her.  So my game will be prolonged as it's bed time for me now.. well a few hours ago.  I'll leave you with some photos though.... enjoy the game.  It's great : )

Just when you think you have it covered, you find the white hall.. and so so many doors with worlds more to explore and figure out.. hehe.. I'm loving it.

BURIED-Latest Madpea Hunt Opened Today

Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Glimpse%20of%20Eternity/186/194/21

BURIED : Interactive & Immersive Grid-wide point & click adventure game with prizes from top designers

Here is another great MadPea "must see" hunt/game experience.

(Kiana Writer, MadPea Developer)

This morning I logged in to SL to find some great news from MadPea.  A photo I had submitted in their pre-game "Greed" photo contest for their new hunt/game "BURIED" won one of the coveted 5 early entry and free hud spots.  2 hours before their latest game/hunt "BURIED" opened today at 12pm SLT I dropped in to the above location along with 4 fellow photo contest winners and a few other early entry winners from another contest they had to find Kiana Writer and a few MadPea staff, get the hud (which normally costs 300L) and we were off to a fast start. The early entry winners were:
AngelicWarrior Commander
MrsSeren Resident
 Kara Trapdoor
Marina Breen
Chrystal Wylder
Asa Vordun
Vivena Resident
Raina Jewell
Jessy Cinderflame
Koosh Lilliehook
Etrone Resident

The most helpful info, sponsor, photos, and a great deal of info. can be found on their official web site here:  http://madpea.blogspot.com/2015/02/buried-how-to-play.html

A couple of ladies and I hopped in the first boat out and I snapped some pics.

We scrambled around the islands knowing we had a 2 hour lead before the masses dropped in (initial sim only holds 20 ppl at a time) possibly creating lag or grey, or (God forbid) not be able to get back in if needed.  I took in as much as I could before progressing to the grid wide sims/hunt part which you have to figure out how to get from the islands.  I ended up taking a few notes based on my experience with past Madpea hunts and knowing how detailed and challenging but fun they can be.   I will try not to give too much away here.  The group does that in time.  But I will say, be sure your wireframe is working and you know how to use it.   A few of us early entries continued on for a while before I took a break to go to the SL Live Radio show my friend Sonicity Fitzroy dj's Sunday afternoons.  That also gave me some great tunes and time to blog this to.  I know the next batch of Peas are scrambling around now as the group is in a frenzy with information and questions.

Upon successful completion of the game participants get 25 prizes.  There are a few things at the beginning you can buy for nominal prices to aid in the quest. Thus far I have not needed the extra items, although the flashlight might have come in handy already a couple of times.  This promises to be a fun and exciting hunt.  I did 7 locations before taking my break.  You can see the sponsor list on the web site and be assured they made some fantastic hiding places.  Those of you, like me, who like to explore will be very pleased.

You can see my winning photo over at MadPea.  I think it was a great concept but not so great pic relatively speaking as I'm no photoshopper, so guess it won on the idea : )  Thank goodness as I loved my early entry experience!

KAGAMI 2014, A Japanese Horror Event August 1-31

game 10

KAGAMI

It's a game, a mystery, an explore, a place to get cool stuff, a story, it's KAGAMI.   I went in today after I first read about it on Honour's blog here:
http://honourmcmillan.wordpress.com/2014/08/03/kagami-2014-a-japanese-horror-event-in-second-life/
Of course I had to see and try for myself.  This is another of the properties places where you are teleported around at various times via the game and there are spots it tells it's own story for you and gives clues.  It has a good story and has great photo ops and interesting places to see and explore.  It's also a mystery you try to solve.  You have to have your scripts down, but at the entry they have places you can check and do this.  Visitors accept a hud and use it to pick up things and to get clues, etc.  My first hud was not willingly picking up everything I found that I needed so I actually started over with a new hud and it still would not let me "get" everything (even less using the 2nd new hud). I was able to get some things but even detaching and reattaching the hud didn't let me pick up all I needed.  I relogged.  I have a half decent Alien computer but who knows.  I guess I will have to try again another day.  What I did see, was VERY cool and so much worth the visit.  I just hope I can finish some time.

KAGAMI

Addendum... So I'm updating this post several hours later after I took a break and resumed play.  In the first part I realized I could proceed without seeing everything on my hud as long as I knew I got what I needed and in the right order and it worked so I moved on to the 2nd half.  It was interested as it seemed the same area/layout only had some different elements /look to it and obviously more and different parts to the game.  The 2nd half I didn't have any problems with the hud or any part of it and it went much quicker.  Here's a tip when playing though, especially in the 2nd part, you sort of have to do things in the right order which you will figure out as you go along.  This was a nice challenge and interesting new way of things in SL.  So I did finish it and had fun.  Enjoy!

I also forgot to mention that at the end there is a fun shopping area that also includes Gotchas.

Hoverboard Wars! Game On!

Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Hoverpark/128/128/20

Here is something new and fun to try in Second Life.   The Hoverboard Wars at Hoverpark is a new sim owned by Selc (3rd photo).

"Looking for fun competitive gameplay? Like racing coupled with ranged and melee combat? Master frictionless agility and exhilarating momentum as you challenge your friends to a game of Hoverboard Wars"

There will be a tournament Friday August 8 with $20,000L to the winner.  They show different time frames for the various zones for this, so pop over and check it out.  I visited during free play and while I thought this was fun to race around and shoot at people, I have to admit I'm not the best driver of most any type of vehicle or moving thing in SL, so I probably won't be winning any competitions, but again, it's very fun to try and it's cool to just zoom around the ramps and obstacles and see things.  As always I took a bunch of photos. The Cornfield and The SL Project Experience Tools

Visit The Cornfield here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/The%20Cornfield/128/128/24

"The Cornfield is a fun interactive horror experience, where you can win some amazing prizes if you're willing to take a risk."

(Addendum: First of all I did this entire post then started looking at blogs for the night and noticed that of course New World Notes had already covered this .. and they always cover things well, so hop on over there for a great review of not only The Cornfield but the experience keys/this new capability in SL and the viewer that works with it..see here: http://nwn.blogs.com/)
The Cornfield

I visited The Cornfield, gathered corn, coins, killed zombies, griefers, giants blob-like things, ran around in the dark in the corn field with a bunch of other avatars and all I got was this t-shirt.. and necklace.. and well I have corn bucks to spare but figured I'd save them for another day.  It might be fun to earn enough corn bucks to buy armour, better weapons, and some of the many cool prizes they have.  But I think it's great I did get this commemorative tshirt and necklace that I'll wear when I play more now.  Others were getting much more.. ~sigh~ I'll always be a permanoob, but at least I had fun!
The Cornfield

Ok, first in order to play this game in SL you have to be on this new viewer, it's found here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Project_Experience_Tools/3.7.12.291846#Known_Issues

..and since I'm used to Firestorm even initial navigation of the UI threw me off a little so when I started to play the game where you run into the corn field and gather corn and bucks and cash them in, I went quite a while repeatedly getting killed by griefers until I finally calmed down a little and figured out how to play smarter.

The initial note card tells you, but I finally learned the safe places you can sit on are very helpful.  I also cammed up and out to see where someone had been killed leaving a big pile of corn for the taking all close together, and finally I also learned to cheat.. by jumping a side fence and also hopping with page up.  Fly override doesn't work though at all, ok yes, so what, I tried.  I wasn't the only one trying stuff.  The cheating didn't help much but I think it helped a little.

(Yes, I spent a great deal of time being sent to the cemetery as seen below, but I was in good company)

The Cornfield
The Cornfield Cemetary

(Note the big blob thing to the right of the screen with eyes.. stay away from that!)

The griefers come in the form of zombies, black devil dog/monkey looking things, some blobby things and a HUGE blob as seen in the photo. You can kill them.. well at least all but the huge blob.. not sure about that or at least not with my entry level machete.  The problem is they can be super fast.

Initially when I went and saw it was a game I felt a little disappointed as I was hoping for a great explore, and when it was initially hard for me my lack of instant gratification almost had me quitting, but soon I caught on how to work it a little better and then OMG.. GAME ON!  It was a bit addicting even really.   So yes, in the end I'd recommend you give it a try if you are willing to check out the new viewer.  And the viewer actually was pretty easy and I was catching on quick as it's not much different and when playing you don't realize so much that you are having to learn and adjust things a bit.  I even took photos, so hey, it works.

(I guess Kona Linden was manning the fort as Kona was around most the time, so I took a pic of course!)
Snapshot_028
In some Halloweens past LL has had a cornfield in SL to explore, but not sure I've seen it for a couple years.  Now they have this.  Here is a little of the backstory...." The Cornfield:For many years, the Cornfield was a region of mythological status, where once naughty avatars were sent to think about what they had done. Rumor had it that "The Cornfield" was a vast star-lit field of corn and was cut off from communication with the rest of the world. Over the years, rumors spread across the grid of this infamous region that everyone at one time had heard about, but hardly anyone had ever seen. It was thought to be nothing but a tale...that is until now... " and then it takes us to present day, but I won't spoil that fun for you and tell you all about it, just go and try it out.

Visit The Green Mire for Some Great MadPea Fun!

Visit The Green Mire by MadPea here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Grantville/128/128/22
Visit their official http://madpea.blogspot.com/

The Green Mire
This is one of my most favorite MadPea games yet.  While finding the last er.. "object" (not wanting to give it all away here) I thought I might loose my mind and felt very permanoob and inadequate until I realized most the ppl around had not even figured out as much as I had in as much time.  So yes, it was not the instant gratification that I often desire of my SL, but it was probably that much more gratifying when I was finally successful in completion of the "game" or whatever you want to call what this is.  It's not a hunt, it's all on one sim, you do have to do some searching and figuring a few things out, but this one is way more up my alley.  It was mysterious and challenging, and a bit thrilling if using the sim windlights in ultra, and I just really liked it a lot.  I will give a few spoiler photos here but won't say any more ..... except go play, it's way fun.
