This is the Annual Lovecraft Festval, celebrating the 128th birthday of HP Lovecraft.  The SL Destination guide states: "Join the festivities at the 7th annual Lovecraft Festival of Second Life, held August 17-26 in celebration of Mr. H.P. Lovecraft's 128th birthday. Featuring dozens of stores of merchants from all across Second Life and a full schedule of entertainment and activities for all including an adventure/quest that starts its unsettling trail at the notorious Arkham Sanatorium. I love to visit this annual SL event mostly because I love the quirkiness of H. P. Lovecraft and the organizers, (specifically, Arikthered, Arik Metzger) always do a great job of running this event.  Maybe quirkiness is not the right word, maybe I mean, creepy? or odd? or just plain interesting.  Plus, who doesn't love a good cthulhu?  There is some great and often unique shopping.  There are a lot of cool events so check out the schedule on their web site.  I snapped a pic that was on a board regarding today's and tomorrow's events as an example.  Guerilla Burlesque will even be performing Aug.25th at 7pm so you know it's a great event and they will put on a wild show I'm sure everyone will love. Elysium will perform Aug 21st at 7pm, and Whymsee had a dance along show this evening. You will prob see a lot of cool looking avs there too.. enjoy.

This event will intrigue explorers, photographers, shoppers, event goers who like music and readings, well I'd think just about anyone, so be sure to check it out. Don't forget to click around, and don't be afraid to sit on pose spots.. I mean.. if you like a good tentacle, creepy crawly, or whatever : ). This event culminates with a closing gala Lovecraft masquerade Aug. 25th from 8-11pm SLT.

LEA16 The Blasted Heath, West of Arkham- by Miasnow Myriam

I visited LEA16 today and found:
The Blasted Heath. The grey desolation sprawls open to the sky like a great spot eaten by acid. This is a build inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's "The Colour Out of Space" which  first appeared in Amazing Stories in 1927.  The build by Miasnow is oddly cool like most H.P. Lovecraft stuff.  Be sure to click on thing as there are some freebie mementos and some links including one to the audio story via Youtube.  There's is not a lot to do but it is fun to visit and I went quick to the main building and started the story while I did the rest of my exploring around the area.   There are some other cool new LEA builds now too, so it's time to check it all out again.

Hurry on over to the HP Lovecraft Lovefest which ends later this evening.  This is a fun event filled with cool products, tons of tentacles, sites, events, and all for a good cause, autism awareness via Autcom.  Don't miss out on the closing ceremonies at 7pm SLT in the Festival Big Top! Here are a few extra tips, be sure to go onto the ship at the far edge of the sim and click on things, as you can find a secret place deep in the water.  There is also an associated "Rats in the Walls" build too.  This is more than just an interesting shopping benefit event, it's a great explore too.  There is also a lot of information about autism and Autcom, signs, info., and links to cool stores, and some great H.P. Lovecraft role play groups and associated sim info.
