Happening Things Around the Grid Review

Last Sunday I did my weekly events review for SL Live Radio during DJ Soni's Slowbake show and it continues to air other times during the week.  We were on location at the skating area DJ Deepert so beautifully constructed.  Once again I'll repeat most of it here minus the intro and closing.

DJ Soni & Kara Skating SL Live Radio

Lately winter and holiday events have taken over the grid.
I've previously mentioned some of my December favs such as Calas Galahdon's "White Christmas" located here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Lost%20Stars/128/128/22
 and previously blogged here: http://karasecondlife.blogspot.com/2015/11/white-christmas-at-calas-galahdon-open.html
Laura Liberty's "Christmas Town" here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Townies/128/128/51
and others sims like Silent Night, The North Pole and Candy Cane Lane.

There are also a lot of holiday hunts and gachas like the Falala Gacha http://huntsl.com/2015/11/16/fa-la-la-la-gacha-event/  that runs through the 26th, the Candy Cane 7 grid-wide hunt http://kastlerockhunts.blogspot.com/  that runs through the 25th, and the White Elephant Gacha Holiday Fair http://www.evilbunnysl.com/evil-bunny-home.html running through the 26th and of course Arcade Gacha is open  http://thearcadesl.com/.  Many more can be found inworld and online at the Get Your Hunt on Hunt SL blog.

Another fun holiday activity is checking out all the SL advent calendars where businesses and event organizers give a new freebie each day of the month and I've found the most comprehensive list of locations for these over at the Showtime blog. http://showtimemagazine.net/?page_id=5474 They are also a great source for events and shows in SL. While there be sure to submit you nominations for best entertainers by  December 31st for the 1015 Live Music Awards through Showtime Magazine.  The various categories include venues, new artists, and so forth.

I'd also like to mention I've posted a Holiday Shopping Guide ( here: http://karasecondlife.blogspot.com/2015/12/holiday-gift-guide-2015.html)  of some of my favorite gift giving ideas on my blog  filled with expected and some unique ideas such as purchasing a Whispering Sands Live promotions party t-shirt which his also your entry into a raffle for your chance to win a live music show from your choice of their musicians in January. (see
here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Katalin/244/211/22 )

This week LEA will announce their art land grant winners so be prepared fro some great new art exhibits popping up over there.  (update: http://lindenarts.blogspot.com/2015/12/lea-round-10-air-land-grant-artists.html  and take special note of one named "Kara" woot!)    And if you like the art scene be sure to visit MetaLES where they are on their 3rd installation of 4.  And of course Bryn Oh's The Gathering is one of my favorites over at Immersiva here:    http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Immersiva/128/128/34

For you shoppers On9 December Fire and Ice is now open through the 28th featuring exclusive nongacha and gacha items from some of SL's hottest designers. Official website here: https://on9sl.wordpress.com/

And The Dickens Project runs through the 20th that features "A Christmas Carol" over at Brady University benefiting The Community Virtual Library.  They have various other events lined up and there are a couple today including the Raglan Shire Tinie Carolers which I love, so you might enjoy checking out their show over at Seanchai Island-visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Bradley%20University/100/209/28 .

That's was it for Sunday's review but of course there is so much more and you can tune into DJ Soni's SL Live show each Sunday from noon to 2pm SLT to hear the weekly review premiere each week or check back on this blog and sometimes I repeat parts of it here.  Her blog about it all and live music in SL is located here: http://sonicityradio.blogspot.com/

Happening Things Around the Grid Review

I'm doing a weekly little voice piece on SL Live radio reviewing events and fun stuff I like around the grid.  You can hear this 2 x during the Slow Bake show with DJ Soni between 12noon SL and 2pm SLT each Sunday.   More info. about her show at the bottom of this page.  I'm trying to post about what I say here too for readers on weeks that I get around to it.   Listen in to hear more each week from myself and DJ Soni. I hope you enjoy it and can use some of the ideas to enhance your time in SL.

Here is what I had to say this week:

Hi Slow Bake fans, It's Kara Trapdoor of Kara's Korner Blogger BlogSpot here again with your weekly, "Happening Things Around the Grid" review.

The Geeks N Nerds event is now open and runs to November 1st.  They always have a lot of fun techy and geeky products and clothes in a cool environment so be sure to check that out. http://geeksnerdssecondlife.blogspot.com/

SL's Got Talent wraps up this week with winners to be announced on Saturday and a 25K 1st place prize to be awarded.  (Round Two, which will be held on Monday, 19th October 2015 starting at 5pm SLT at the Bluebyrd Entertaiment Resort.  The contestants moving on to Rounds two are as follows: Angela McKeenan, Cordeliasloan Resident, Hedy Patrucci, Jeffah, Katiaportugal Genesis, Khiron Ametza, Ladyrok Resident, LeeWinegarden, libertybell Lyric, Mittycoon, Miss Cast, Singsong4u Resident.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer opened yesterday at the Strides 1, 2, and 3 sims with a week of shopping, entertainment and more for a good cause.  My friends Dom, Toxie, and Hogman with Whispering Sands Live Promotions will be there as some of the entertainment.  Whispering Sands Live Promotions signed up yet another talented singer GregKat24 this week.  So be sure to visit his fun shows. http://wslpromo.net/event-board/

If you like to explore I recommend visiting 'Prison' by Cica Ghost this week for a unique contemplative experience. http://karasecondlife.blogspot.com/2015/10/cica-ghosts-prison.html

Check out the SL Destination guide for a long list of great Halloween sims and events.  I've previously mentioned and blogged some of my favorites and this week I recommend the Scare to Death Haunted House Ride.  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Haunted%20Hollow/128/128/22

Today marks the end of the most recent art exhibit at Windlight Gallery where they are having Russell Epoynm performing live.  Keep an eye on Windlight Magazine for art exhibits, fewllowships, club times, a magazine full of art and other events on the grid, podcasts, tutorials, a haunted house, and now a vlog by myself and Emma Portillo.  http://karasecondlife.blogspot.com/2015/10/windlight-gallary-closing-event-for.html

And last but not least I'd like to mention a classy new adult club opening later this week called 'The Inner Room' that features both public and VIP sections. They uniquely offer a variety of rooms with something for everyone including a jazz bar, roman bath house, Boho area, BDSM, gameroom, cigar room, movie theater, burlesque area, main club areas, and social settings just to name a few.  Step into The Inner Room for a night of desires.   This is not just another club but a door to be discovered.

That's about it for this week and now back to DJ Soni and your Sunday afternoon Slowbake radio show.
