In Memory of Nitro Fireguard
Saturday Nitro Fireguard passed from this world SL/RL. There have been many remembrances all over Facebook and blogs and I've waited a while to make a post because while I didn't know Nitro all that well, I've known him for a very long time and he was a sweet soul and awesome artist, so his passing touched me as well as many in SL. I met him and his 4 plus year partner Dido Haas in Flickr, then in their long standing exceptional gallery The Nitroglobus Gallery, and around the grid out exploring and at art events. They are on my off time zone so that mostly consisted of infrequent brief encounters. But one only had to meet them and visit their gallery to feel close to them. Dido and Nitro played well and worked well together in SL and Dido wrote a dear memorial on her blog here: http://exploringslwithdido.blogspot.com/
She wrote in part....
She wrote in part....
"Saturday, 7 November at 2.10 pm Paris time my beloved Partner Nitro Fireguard passed away.
Although I knew this was inevitable, it still was a shock. After all nobody wants to loose a loved one.
The only redeeming thought is Nitro doesn't have to suffer these horrible pains anymore. You will always be in my heart.

I thank you for a wonderful 4 years together in Second Life, in which we had so much fun and joy working together in building Nitroglobus gallery, and more.
gros bisous mon cheri and rest in peace
Dido"
Nitro is a creative, talented, and well respected artist who enhanced their gallery exhibits with 3d sculptures and other surroundings and he and Dido both have some exceptional images in other parts of their gallery. They've hosted many of the top SL artists over time. I borrowed Nitro's profile pic made by Dido and made it into my own little memorial. My condolences go out especially to Dido.

Happening Things Around the Grid
I've been getting a little behind on SL things lately but will catch you up with some of the things I've been up to via my latest "Happening Things Around the Grid" audio piece that premieres each Sunday during the SL Live Radio Slowbake show with DJ Soni and aired additionally throughout the week. This week went as follows:
Hi all you Slowbake SL Live Radio fans. It's Kara Trapdoor of Kara's korner Second Life Adventures Blogger blog spot here again with your weekly "Happening Things Around the Grid" review.
There are always new exciting things going on around the grid and you might notice some pretty hot new avies running around as Lind Labs recently released some cool new start avatars.
I'd like to mention singer Skye Galaxy is back on the grid again for a brief fall lineup that can be found on his profile for times and locations as well as on his manager's Lo block. that's Skye spelled SKYE and you don't want to miss his highly popular shows.
Saturday I attended the grand opening of the VIP Room part of the new Inner Room adult lounge. This classy upscale adult hang out has plenty of events planned and is sure to become a popular place as they had many in attendance and the place is very well designed. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Visionary%20Isle/157/45/3711
I've also been attending events over at the Art in Hats 2015 event that runs through November 14th. This is a cool event benefitting Team Diabetes and the American Diabetes Foundation. There is even a guest hat design completion with a free box of supplies anyone can enter and I will be helping to judge so be sure to check out this fun event with some unique hats and art by SL's top artists and designers. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Crestwood%20Acres/128/128/2
Another fundraisers is the Winter Festival for Team Fox benefitting Parkinsons' research. They are already in full swing with a lot of great music at Creation's Park. This event runs through November 15th. Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Creations%20Park/128/128/33
The Firestorm Spooky Nights Hunt runs through November 30th in conjunction with MadPea and if you check out the Firestorm website you can learn about opportunities to help with the new Linden Lab Gateway Project. http://www.firestormviewer.org/
If you like the arts, Windlight Gallery has a new exhibit with an opening party November 15th from 4-6pm SLT for their November and December exhibit. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Froien/128/128/22
One of my favorite and certainly the largest live musician management team, Whispering Sands LIve Promotions keeps adding musicians and venues to their well organized group and now you can hear their music right on their web site or relax in their new listening lounge while checking out their artists selections. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Katalin/128/128/10
For all you artists out there remember it's time again to apply for a Linden Endowment for the Arts land grant. Just check out their web site for details. http://lea-sl.org/
The United Football League in SL is hosting a March of Dimes charity auction of football players and cheerleaders that runs through November 16th.
And for all you shoppers the Fantasy Gacha Carnival is in full swing running through December 6th. http://thefantasygachacar.wix.com/fgcsl
That's all we have time for today but check out the blog Kara's Korner for more details and links.

Gary Jonstone at Picadilly Circus Fashion Sim and Venue
Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Exotic%20Isle/128/128/52
Today I visited the New Picadilly Circus Fashions Sim and venue to hear Gary Jonstone. This guy packed the new venue tonight with his great sound and sang a lot of country covers. His deep rich voice is one of the better I've heard in SL. He's self-managed and has been singing in SL for 6 years. Gary is really amazing and truly spot on with every song after song. He draws great crowds and that's understandable with his sound, so be sure to check him out some time.
