Fading, A Cold Frog Exhibit Opening Party Today at Nitroglobus Gallery

Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Sunshine%20Homestead/38/24/1001

Nitroglobus has been brining us wondeful art exhibits for many years in SL. Owner and curator, Dido Haas, also has a great blog where you can read more about this exhibit here: http://exploringslwithdido.blogspot.nl/2018/02/fading-february-exhibition-nitroglobus.html

"The pictures exhibited @ Nitroglobus are works Cold made some time ago, because nowadays her health doesn't allow her to make new ones, as her RL sight is fading away." Dido goes on to say it best, "This exhibition is something of a retrospective of Cold's past work, as well as a tribute to her creativity, and moreover, to her in general for the cool and crazy avi she created. Most photos exhibited are autobiographical and all deal in a way with suicide and death, not strange because Cold's theme in life is 'the unbearable darkness of being'. However, there is lots of humor too in her work, so don't be afraid to get too depressed."

The opening party is 12pm SLT today, Saturday 2-3-18.  DJ Ferdy will be playing a list of Cold's fav songs.

This is another group of my Flickr friends from long ago who have great skills and make some great exhibits and opening parties, so be sure to check it out.

I found a 2015 bio. in my inventory on Cold Frog from a prior exhibit she had at Nitroglobus and thought I'd share it here as it can be fun to learn more about the artists in SL:

"I came to SL about 7 year ago coz of 'HUMO' a Belgian magazine that had a sim here in SL.
So that meant meeting Belgian folks here, my fellow country men/women.
Soon it became clear to me that just chatting in SL wasn't satisfying enough.
I needed a creative goal: I tried building but didn't have the patience to learn. Later on I became a member of Within, now known as Madpea who create games in SL.

It's there in Madpea that I started to take pictures as I liked to play havoc on their games without giving away clues how to play the games. I started a blog there.: http://coldfroglite.wordpress.com/
At Madpea I met a lot of creative people; among them the best builders of SL. For more info about the place: http://madpea.blogspot.be/

I also had a blog where I placed pictures that fitted the songs I linked; again often with a humoristic touch. But now most of the links to Youtube are broken or do no longer exist sooo if you wanna try: here's the url: http://frogovic.wordpress.com/

Later on I discovered there was a rather large community on FLICKR that posted Second Life pictures. I was surprised about the quality of some of the works. I wanted to try too and until now it's been a learning process for me.

So a big thx to Dido and Nitro who think some of my works are good enough to be shown here at Nitroglobus gallery. All my work shown here is new and never shown before but exclusively made for this expo.

Humor is very important to me and you can still find that element in my work and in the avatars i choose to wear ^^

When making the art works shown here in this gallery I used a lot of the awesome (free) items of Capcaqt Ragu and Meilo Minotaur. Good Cross was so kind to give me rights to rezz on his sim. I like to thank them all for their generosity.

(Keep in mind that was from 2015.  Also note the new MadPea blog site is here: http://www.madpeagames.com/)

I popped over early for a couple of teaser pics.

In Memory of Nitro Fireguard

Saturday Nitro Fireguard passed from this world SL/RL.  There have been many remembrances all over Facebook and blogs and I've waited a while to make a post because while I didn't know Nitro all that well, I've known him for a very long time and he was a sweet soul and awesome artist, so his passing touched me as well as many in SL.  I met him and his 4 plus year partner Dido Haas in Flickr, then in their long standing exceptional gallery The Nitroglobus Gallery, and around the grid out exploring and at art events. They are on my off time zone so that mostly consisted of infrequent brief encounters.  But one only had to meet them and visit their gallery to feel close to them.  Dido and Nitro played well and worked well together in SL and Dido wrote a dear memorial on her blog here: http://exploringslwithdido.blogspot.com/

She wrote in part....
"Saturday, 7 November at 2.10 pm Paris time my beloved Partner Nitro Fireguard passed away.
Although I knew this was inevitable, it still was a shock. After all nobody wants to loose a loved one.
The only redeeming thought is Nitro doesn't have to suffer these horrible pains anymore. You will always be in my heart.
...
I thank you for a wonderful 4 years together in Second Life, in which we had so much fun and joy working together in building Nitroglobus gallery, and more.
gros bisous mon cheri and rest in peace
Dido"

Nitro is a creative, talented, and well respected artist who enhanced their gallery exhibits with 3d sculptures and other surroundings and he and Dido both have some exceptional images in other parts of their gallery.  They've hosted many of the top SL artists over time.  I borrowed Nitro's profile pic made by Dido and made it into my own little memorial.  My condolences go out especially to Dido.

I took a early TP over to Dido Hass and Nitro Fireguard's Nitroglobus Gallery to check out their latest exhibit for December.  I have to say I am overly impressed with this latest installation by Burk Bode and Maloe Vansant.  This couple has been putting out quality art in SL for a long time now.  I don't know how they keep up really and this exhibit really impressed me a lot.  It's great and I'm not over-reacting or doing my usual thing about how excited I am about a lot of things in SL, as this one I'm sure anyone would agree is exceptional.  This one is really fun!  Maybe fun is not exactly the word as although it's fun, it's also touching, and grabbed me from start to end.  I took some pictures and left my own avatar in the pics which often I don't do when showing other's art because it can detract, but this time with the suggested windlight my av is basically just a silhouette and can show the size and shape of this exhibit.

The exhibit is actually made into a sort of "tunnel" or guided area like a maze even (I admit I did get a little lost a couple of times, so the word maze is a bit fitting) that is filled with hallways and small rooms of images, quotes, cool lighting, and information about art and creativity.  Burk made the actual build into the gallery and then I guess the two of them covered it all with Maloe's art making for a very creative and exciting experience.  I think you do need to use their suggested windlight or something close to really enjoy it, as when I started on default I couldn't even see it right, but when adjust OMG, it came to life!

The opening party is set for Wednesday Dec. 11th at 9pm Paris time until 12.   The exhibit is already open for viewing so have a look or wait for the party, either way, but don't miss this one.  Dido says of the exhibit, "Burk made a tunnel of light with lots of projectors that place not only Maloe's artwork on the walls and floors, but also poems, floating letters, popart teams and a lot more. It's really awesome!"  Exactly!

I do have to give a shout out here for The Skywalk Gallery over at The Station, as both Burk and Maloe have also contributed to the current exhibit there, "Shadows in Black and White, an FCP Reunion Exhibit", so to see more of their art, join us at the opening party Sunday 12-8-13 at 12pm noon SLT and check that out here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/The%20Station/182/122/1028

Nitrogolbus Gallery, (Dido Haas and Nirto Fireguard) has another great exhibit this October, featuring the works of Cold Frog and CaTcHaFIRe.

Their October exhibit has a lot of reptilian, doll, fantasy fun feel to it. I dropped in and Dido and Nitro were on the swing in the exhibit while many of the regular SL art patrons kept dropping in for a first look.  Nitro worked his magic again with this watery set that include a full menu high dive board and swing set, a couple of boats, fish underwater etc to also enjoy while experiencing the exhibit.  Enjoy another pleasurable gallery exhibit by this pair who always seem to find great artists and create wonderful environments in which to showcase them.

Pre-Opening today, 6-26-13 at 8am SLT with opening party this Saturday, June 29th 1-4pm SLT.  These two fun and intriguing artists combined in the always interesting Nitroglobus Gallery should make for a great show.  Owners of the gallery Dido and Nitro always do a great job of decorating for the shows and they have done so again with this exhibit in a reflective watery setting complete with rain, rubber duck swim tube, cattails, and umbrellas provided!  Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Costa%20Blanco/128/128/18
