My good friends from my old Flickr days and the art world, Burk Bode and Maloe, are having an art exhibit opening party tomorrow/Friday. Burk has put together an exhibit in DiXmiX Gallery. Here's the invite info.:

Unfortunately I won't be able to be at the opening party since it's during my usual work time, however for all you who are free, this should be a fun party.  I used to be able to hit some of these openings and it was always a good time with great people and some awesome art. Burk and Maloe have been creating wonderful creative art in SL ever since I've known them, which has been over 8 years. They are well known to the SL art community and are a super sweet couple.  They are always open to helping out old friends and I've actually had some of their art in a couple of my past galleries.  True talent here. 

This time Burk's images are adult rated, so during my sneak peek, when taking pics, I cropped out some "things" ~cough~ for this blog teaser. There are some other very interesting ones but I couldn't even figure out how to get SFW pics of, that you'll want to see.  If you want to see it ALL, head on over to the gallery.  The images are very creative and of course the quality of the work is clear.  The subject matter will conjure up a few fantasies .. or maybe it's reality for some of y'all.  Anyway ;)   enjoy.

While there I ran into the DiXmiX Gallery owner, Dixmix Source.  He was kind enough to offer me the sneak peek for the blog post.  The gallery has been around for a long time and I've visited before but for those of you who have an old landmark do use the current one as this gallery has been in it's current location about a year and a half.  DiXmiX is French but speaks English and he gave me permission to blog about the gallery and take a pic of him.  I'm sure many in the art community are friends with him.  He has various rooms to the large gallery area and I looked around at some of the other exhibits that were cool too.  They have a nice party room set up ready for dj Aida and visitors tomorrow.  DiXmiX is a Belgian artist, photographer, director, musician and more.  He's been the owner of the gallery since 2008.  He has his own Flickr here:    http://www.flickriver.com/photos/10mix/

Flickr Collaborators and Posers (FCP) was a longstanding group, now mostly inactive, that comprised a large number of SL residents who met weekly Fridays and/or Sundays, accommodating various time zones over a 3 year period.  The group was founded around February 2008 by Katiya who also organized many of the photo shoots.  A pre-selected theme and location was arranged and announced in the in-world and Flickr groups then people would get together and pose for group shots in costumes, poses, and props fitting the selected theme and sim.  

Many of the former FCP members have become exceptional SL artists and this exhibit showcases works from just a few of the “regulars” to FPC.   We thank the artists contributing to this Skywalk Gallery exhibit.  Last month’s exhibit “Technochory”  by Bryn Oh and Sina Souza will also remain in place for an extended time.  Please enjoy the exhibits and explore the entire sim. 

The Station boasts a variety of fun things to explore in the sky and on ground level including 2 clubs, 2 theaters (one can be booked for free/contact sim management) many rides (various carnival rides, a human cannon that explodes shooting the rider into the air opening on a steampunk bird glider to fly around, a sling shot ride from sky to ground, trains, trolleys, a mechanical bull, floating balloons), a fun house, zeppelins, numerous hidden locations for hanging out, dates or photography, a gambling hotel with various games to play for free, stores, rentals, underwater area, freebies in various locations and much more.  Look for future art exhibits, live music, and club events to come.    (Sim owner/builder: Enigmatic Deir, Sim Manager: Sonrisa Seminario)

Holiday Dreams Gallery Opening Soon

 I'm working on a new project and it's a beautiful full mesh building that I am making into a gallery for the holidays. Opening date and SLurl to be announced, but I just had to do a little pre-opening blog post.   I'm very unorganized and don't even have a opening date scheduled yet, but it will be soon.  The artists have been amazing and the place is looking great if I do say so myself.


But delays come in all forms and my first was when I somehow rezzed 3 copies of the build on top of each other and didn't notice it until later when there were returning multiple doors in doorways and the front foundation had a giff like wiggle effect going on.  The deleting and re-rezzing was tedious but I'm sure there is a better way than this permanoob is aware of.   Next I was messing with scripts and somehow magically threw a landmark giver hover text script right into the front stairs unbeknownst to me.  For the life of me I couldn't see it in contents to get ride of it, so in came Bel the Builder to the rescue.  Belinda Barnes is quite handy and she arrived all decked out ready to work.  In short time she had the place fixed up and when I had to go real life and told her my vision for one of the rooms, I returned a couple hours later only to find Bel had fixed up the room exactly how I wanted.  I took a few pics of her since she was perfect for the job.

Anyway.. I'll keep you posted on the gallery opening, but here is a sneak peek look at it and Bel on the job!  More to come.....
