(Owner, Tristen)
The press release states: "The time has finally arrived! The Pit Bar will be opening Wednesday, August 1st at 7pm SLT featuring the soothing vocals of Criss Covers, that will touch your heart and leave you wanting more.
(Musician Criss Covers)
The retro old neighborhood bar feel will make you right at home.  It's a perfect place for chilling to some of the best music of SL.  If you haven't seen it yet.. you won't be disappointed."

I stopped in early to visit with my good friend Emma Portilo.  I also grabbed a photo of the still empty and not quite open bar and owner Tris10 otherwise known as Tristen.  This bar promises to be a cool hang out and Tristen even built in a classic theater in the back room and up a very cool elevator.  We watched a movie there a short time back before the bar was ready for opening.  I asked if I could snaps a pic of Criss doing pre-set up.  Criss Covers, or Criss Fredriksson, is a Chilean singer.  His genres including 70;s, 80;s, Rcoki, Pop, Easy Listening and Country.  He also performs on occasion acoustic set with guest guitarists.  His press release states he creates intimate and mesmerizing rendition of 70;s and 80;s and contemporary songs that will fill your heart and soul.  "Criss' artistry and obsession for music comes through in his performances.  Performing since childhood, his well honed voice draws crowds both in RL and SL.

Covering artists such as The Eagles, Simply Red, Crowded House, Foreigner, Journey, U2, The Police, Def Leppard, Duran Duran, Level 42, Alias, Dire Straights, Bryan Adams, George Michael, Lionel Richie, Bee Gees, Whitesnake, INXS, Billy Joel, Poison, Firehouse, Richard Marx and more so much more!!"

Magic McQueen

I went out to see the movie Magic Mike a few weeks ago with my RL sis and found it interesting to see the theater FULL of all ladies including 2 little old ladies at the end of our isle that had to be well into their 80s enjoying the show.  At times the theater crowd was whooping it up louder than the movie crowd ladies.  The movie is a decent fun ladies night out and has hit the news due to it being sort of a "one for the ladies" after years of most adult movies being geared to men in this way.   I'm not making a statement one way or another.  I'm just saying.  Huge thanks to Magic John McQueen and all the ladies for their help.  FYI Club Pulse is not really a club in SL, but rather a 700L club I bought off marketplace to use for fun and as a set and I filled it up with inventory things and built a couple of things after modding it a bit.   I think we all had a great time.

Inspiration Book Party

(Persia top left.. pic just above here includes my friend Kathy Nikolaidis, Glyph graves, Myself, Mimi Juneau, and Neva Crystall)
Persia Bravin invited me to the all white attire Inspiration book party that was held Sunday July 22nd..  The party was to celebrate the official launch of the SL interior design and trend forecast publication, INSPIRATION BOOK that is published 4 times a year.  The non-commercial book is created by a group of people who love SL design and who give of their time for free.  It's an absolutely beautiful publication.

The party was hosted at the home area of Dirk Talamasca that was remodeled by Neva Crystall and Wendy Xeno the makers of Gilmour/Humanoid and Neva River (previously blogged).  They have a great eye for detail and the sim is amazing to play in.  I went back for some pics with a friend.  This is another sim that is great with windlight and has fun sweet poses all around.  But hurry and visit as I believe Dirk has opened his home to the public on a limited time only and it is an amazing sim well worth rushing over to see.

La Luna Blu and Mystic Forest at Ogasawara

This is an adorable area with some quaint little shops in the lower level home to various clothing and fun novelty shops and the tp is up to a wonderland fun magical place loaded with poses and cool places to explore.  There is even a tour flower thing that flys around the area that was lots of beautiful fun.  Windlight changes work great in this sim. I bought this cute little bonneted and bloomer outfit in the shops then went and took some fun pics in them

2012 Hair Fair --Now Open! July 14-July 29th

Visit here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Hair%20Fair%20-%20Garden/227/45/23
Yay!  I made it into the Garden  and Water sims of the hair fair this morning.  But alas I don't have time to scour the entire area and will only have a quick cursory glance for now.  RL calls.  But I'm excited to see all the wonderful hair. There are 4 sims, Garden, Water, Sand, and Flower.  When I landed this morning each of the sims were hosting over 40 people each.  The dots on the map made for a nice green block.  As usual the event is a fund raiser for Wigs for Kids. So I don't have to feel guilty spending tons of Linden on hair because various percentages of the proceeds go to this good cause the same as last year.  It's so exciting to get all the freebie or dollarbie hair offered in almost all of the shops as well as see some new releases and also just to get a chance to see a lot of cool hair and possibly some hair stores, God forbid, that I might not have known about before.  Sorry guys but most of the freebies catered to the women, although I did note a good number for the men as well as unisex freebies around, so it is fun for all even on a budget.

There was surprisingly little lag considering the number of people around, but then agian I was barefoot with a mesh dress and only a necklace for jewlery that I told myself if there was a lag issue I could alway still take off, but never found the need. I didnt feel too guilty with that necklace either as I strolled past ladies all decked out in bax boots, high hairs with all the fixings and I followed a lady in a HUGE fufu gown with many bows and way high hair for a while who didnt seem to be having a bit of a problem either.

It's so exciting and overwhelming yet I tried to make my way methodically around so as not to miss things on at least my fist sim visit during this limited morning visit. There was a good amount of mesh hair that was fun to see and I just couldnt go fast enough in my limited time knowing I'd have to leave soon, and really it's something that should be savored anyway.

The fair runs July 14-29th and July 29th is bandana day when you remove your hair to show you care.  Adorkable poses provided cute poses amidts the landscaped decor in the midways etc. I made it through the Garden & Water sims in good time then stood at a sim crossing with others for a bit and even trying to bully my way in at top speed didnt work, so I decided to call it a morning vowing to be back at first opportunity. But before I left I cammed as many stores as my computer would allow into the next sim and while I could see the hair for sale I was not able to pick up freebies or buy from that distance.  So, good luck getting in and enjoy!  It's great as usual : )

Faboo Swimwear & Studio Boudoir Photography

My friend and fellow avid SL shopper, Grizel Halberstadt, has a studio, does photography, makes various things and now has her bikini line at Faboo ready in time for some summer fun.  I love that she made them in a great style that fits well and that the ties (front, sides, back and neck) are all optional and everything comes in various layers! They are so cute I decided to take a few pics here and blog it
I especially like the tie dye here.  Then I put on the coral and did some beach shots with some friends.
I'm on the right and YES I put on blond hair today at the beach... got a little bleach blonde going on.
Check out Grizel's place here Including Studio Boudoir and Faboo shop: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Coolibah%20Sands/220/22/2201

Normally I Hate Surprises

My first life birthday was last week. Normally I don't like surprises. But last week Kathy Nikolaidis, Emma Portilo and Izzy Mavendorf threw me this awesome birthday party Saturday with all my favorite things and the greatest group of friends.  They included all the stuff I love like fairies and a fantasy forest, dancing and music, tons of pose props and party things and SLictionary (a fun game I love in SL).  It was actually a surprise and I even ran late for it telling them to just start the game and I'd be there soon, as I thought it was just the 3 of us girls and a few friends we had asked along to play the game.  LOL was I surprised when I dropped in to dancing and a whole set up.  Special thanks to Da5id for coming and being dj.. and Brian who took a lot of great pics on his stream too.  Kathy was an amazing party planner!  Anyway, thanks so much Kathy, Emma, Izzy, Divi, Da5id, Brian, Gus, Tris10, Kate and Sleddy. This was one surprise I LOVED!  Luv you guys! I made this little slide show with a bit of video footage from it.
My SL/Flickr Friend Ant/Toogy also made me a Flickr card

Then also my SL/Flickr friend Bloomy Miles made this classy picture for me for my birthday too including another friend John:

Food, Family, Friends, Fun and Freebies on the Fourth!

The moon was full on the long drive home alone tonight as fireworks continued to sparkle and light the already bright sky just before the final hour of the day.  I was feeling very relaxed after an evening of RL fun with lots of food, fun, family and friends on this fourth.  The holiday comes to a close and we are reminded of the reason for the festivities and American Independence Day.  So now, sitting at my computer, I review all my SL freebie outfits and products I picked up mostly today.  Then I think perhaps I should blog some of the great deals that will continue to be available for a while yet.

Happy Canada Day and Happy American Independence Day!

Happy Canada Day Today & 4th of July Independence Day this Week!  From Kara & Kathy

My friend Kathy is Canadian and I'm American so we wanted to show our spirit and make a dual holiday pic today with matching dresses found in the SL Marketplace here: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/26042  by the brand "Simply" which also offers various other Canada Day and 4th of July clothes.  We chose these matching mesh dress for our photo.

Next we added the "Mad" liquid lips, Kathy is in the Canadian flag lips and I have the America flag lips of course.  The lips can be found online here: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/products/search?search[category_id]=&search[maturity_level]=G&search[keywords]=mad+lips

Today marks Canada Day and Wiki history states, "Canada Day (French: Fete du Canada) is the national day of Canada, a federal statutory holiday celebrating the anniversary of the July 1, 1867, enactment of the British North America Act, 1867 (today called the Constitution Act, 1867, in Canada), which united three colonies into a single country called Canada within the British Empire Originally called Dominion Day ( FrenchLe Jour de la ConfĂ©dĂ©ration), the name was changed in 1982, the year the Canada Act was passed. Canada Day observances take place throughout Canada as well as by Canadians internationally."

Wednesday marks American Independence Day for us Americans.  Wiki states: "Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.  Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, and political speeches and ceremonies, in addition to various other public and private events celebrating the history, government and traditions of the United States.  Independence Day is the national day of the United States."

And if you are looking for something fun to do in SL for the holidays you can always visit the ever exciting Summer Town (temporary for the holidays) by Laura Liberty.   She has a lot of products and great interactive stuff to play on and explore there.   I made this video a couple of years ago there but she has all this and so much more new.  It's a great place.
